What does 88% boer plus 100% nubian equal????

So...my friend with the GORGEOUS little nubian doeling I posted pics of had my little boy I've been praying for today...actually...her GOAT Betty had this wonderful little buckling! He shall be Jack Tripper to go with our 2 does Chrissy and Janet - thus making 3's company! The beauty is...I will be disbudding (yeah for no horns! Can't stand 'em personally...sorry for those who can...just not my cup of tea ) And...drum roll please...he's from a CAE/Cl free herd!!!! WOO HOO! (round here it's near impossible to find that and they just have the one boer doe...she had twins today so I guess 2 now at their place as Jack had a sister...but still...ya'll get my drift I think...he is a RARITY for me!)

He was 10 pounds even - HUGE little fellow - with an 88% boer mom and and a purebred nubian dad....his dad can be seen here on their website...Snickers is the one.... http://shelliraefarm.com/livestock/nubian-bucks they are considering selling him just because they plan to retain so many of his daughters....but I dunno...he just keeps making lovely babies!

What i DO know is I have been waiting FOREVER for this baby...going and talking with his mother...putting in my order...and she cooked a wonderful little buckling!!!

So...now...rally...because i don't know and I'm not calling my friend again with another question...what is this? I mean his percentage...like 2%??? I don't really care...he has 1x1 teats...is still a little wobbly on my floors...and is just hours old sweetness in a basket at my feet right now I'm in love!!!


So...with a dad like that and a mom who is a CHUNKY monkey...I think he will be perfect for now...maybe in the future I will go further and get fancy pants boer goats...but for now we are just growing these babies to be the beginnings for us

If the momma is Boer/Nubian wouldn't he be 38% Boer and 62%Nubian???

I would think he would be 44% boer and 66% nubian if my math is correct since mom is 88% boer and dad is 100% nubian. He is a nice looking buckling.

Thank you guys! His dad is SO SO colorful!!! What do you think my odds are of passing along a little of that color into my girls kids next year? If I just get one crazy spot here or there on kids I'll be pleased...they don't have to be crazy awesome colors like Snickers

If the other part of mom is Nubian. Dam = 88% Boer 12 % Nubian. 1/2 of each percentage goes to the kid. Dad is 100% Nubian so 1/2 of that percentage goes to the kid. So you get 44% Boer + 6% Nubian + 50% Nubian.



That gives you 44% Boer and 56% Nubian.
