Hi,
I am trying to move my 2 125 lbs pigs from one side of the farm to another. I want to move them from their regular pen to a garden that is full of weads. What is the best stress free, for both parties, to move them? Thanks,

The way I do it is do not feed them one day and the next day let them go and use the feed to get them were you want. It has always worked for me and I always just tease them with it. Thats how I was taught since I was little.

Thanks,

If you've spent any amount of time with these animals, you should be able to drive them from one point to the other with minimal trouble. Using a rake handle to extend your reach, just stay between the hogs and any area you don't want them to go. When driving hogs, you're job is not to make them move from point A to point B, but rather to make points C through W seem like a bad decision by filling the gaps. When the hogs make the right decision and decide to head to point B, just let them do their thing. If you've had them in a pen for a while, they'll mosey, sashe, wander, linger, and general mill about, but eventually they'll get where you want them without the stress of feeling pushed.

I go with the feed bucket routine. I don't skip any feedings. I don't want them so eager they run me over. I use the same bucket for feeding everytime, and there is always a walk to the feed pans so they are quite happy to follow that bucket and never question the routine. The trick is to establish patterns that will help those pigs move themselves when needed. I even let them out of their usual places every now and then so they aren't so curious that they having a burning desire to wander all over the place when I want them to focus. That being said, my pigs get a few minutes of human attention every day, so that they aren't running blind and stupid when we are dealing with them.
