Out with momma today and noticed this. No sign of distress or discomfort. Only visible when.she is on her hind legs.
Due end of April I believe.
Thanks for the help.

That looks like her mucous plug. If so she might be a little sooner than the end of April. It varies from goat to goat but it can mean kids in a few hours or days and as long as a few weeks. With mine it just means that yeah, they will have kids one day. No set time at all.

Are you asking about the goop or the bit of pink sticking out from her vulva? The goop is probably her mucus plug like Babs said, but the other part is a very slight vaginal prolapse. Doesn't look like much to be concerned with right now, but keep an eye on it. If you start seeing it poke out at other times or it gets larger or it doesn't go back in on it's own, you may need to do something about it.

I was asking about the pink part. What do I do in the event that it doesn't go back in?

Glad purplequeenvt knows what she is looking at. I have never had a goat prolapse so no help on that one. You probably knew what the mucous was...duh on my part.

The prolapse makes me a little nervous, guess this will be her first and last kidding.

Don't write her off just yet. That doesn't even begin to rank as a problem right now. Ewes/Does get tiny prolapses like that due to extra internal pressure (babies). They can exacerbate the issue by climbing up on stuff. As long as it does get a lot worse, I wouldn't consider her a cull.

It becomes a more serious issue when the prolapse grows larger and starts coming out when she's laying down or not going back in on it's own.

Sometimes an animal will have a vaginal prolapse for a few days and then it will be gone, never to be seen again. I don't know how prolapses are dealt with in goats.

I think it looks okay. Just swollen. All of the pressure in there can make it get very puffy and so long as after she kids, she doesn't have an actual prolapse, she is fine for future breedings.

Just keep an eye on her. If that is all you get she is fine. I have some that do that off and on.
