...my little soon to be dairy goats. I'm planning on breeding this February and want to plant a small plot of land with anything lush, yummy, and nutritious. I have them moved to another pen for right now which was becoming over grown. They are loving the extra browse(though they were not too thrilled about the new sleeping arrangements, silly goats  ) So, for now I have an empty pen that is pretty much stripped clean, goat fertilized, and ready for planting.

Anything specific you guys would recommend?(I live in planting zone 8, so it doesn't have to be particularly drought or frost resistant)

We plant Rye in the winter and Bermuda (or a grazing mix) in the summer in the pasture. They also get hay and feed during the Spring-Fall. Just grass in the summer.

Alrighty then, rye grass it is. Will be planting as soon as this quick frost we're having is over, anything beyond that? Like something tough and shrubby I can mix in with the rye to make it stretch, or possibly some kind of yummy herb that will grow quick?( I'm wanting variety, though I suppose my options are rather limited with it being winter and all :/ )

Hey thanks guys, I think I'm going to go ahead with Fennel. It sounds perfect and is something me and my family could also put to use. I already can't wait for this spring :D Baby goats and plenty of green to keep my girls happy
