What's the best grain to feed a hard keeper?

Whenever I have an animal that comes to me that need conditioning, I always place a couple of raw eggs in their feed, add some BOSS to whatever feed ration that I chose and, of course, make sure they have been dewormed to my satisfaction.

The raw eggs seem to really do a good job for laying on the flesh and for glossy coats.

How are you defining "hard keeper"? What are your specific problems? It also might help if you explain your current feeding practices.
