You need to get the thiamine as you don't know which you are treating and thiamine is critical for goat polio. Any extra thiamine just gets flushed out in the urine, can't hurt them. Ask you vet for some, it is Rx.

Glad that it is working. Sometimes we never truly know what was wrong but getting them better is what counts.

I have a yr old Nubian pygmy nanny. Went out to feed last night other goats came to eat she didn't. I went looking for her and she was real skidish (which is not normal) she was walking around sort of like she was drunk or really confused. I packed her to my feed barn put her in there and let her eat packed her back out still seemed very disorented, put her in one of the sleeping totes I have set out and would kind of let her head roll to one side and kind of walked in circles in there. I had to be at work 5 am this morning didnt have time to go back out and check on her.. What could be going on?

I just had the same problem with one of my Nubians and she actually fell on the ground and couldn't get up. I rushed her to the doc and she had an ear infection from mites. He gave her antibiotic shot and flushed her ear out with saline solution. I'm not a vet but the symtoms are the same as bloat. I put baking soda in a small mineral feeder and keep baking soda in it at all times. They will only eat what they need, same goes for goat minerals. Just be sure to keep water full. the minerals make them thirsty. be sure its goat minerals with copper. Goats Need minerals with copper.

the vet also told me to let her forage. This is to get more vitamins in her naturally. So I let her out of the goat yard and sit in a folding chair to watch her to make sure she doesn't fall down again and I wouldn't be able to find her in the woods. Vet also told me to flush out her ear two times a day for a week. I also put an eye dropper full of colloidal silver in her ear. I use colloidal silver for a lot of things.
