Hi there,

I have kiko goats with 5-week old kids, one buck kid. His testes have dropped and he's going through the motions on his sister and cousins... I plan on banding him, but have read it's best to wait as long as possible to ensure complete development of the urinary tract.

When does he become fertile? I don't want to cut it too close! (no pun intended.)

Thanks!

They can be fertile as early as 7 weeks, but doelings aren't fertile till 8 weeks so you're safe to band him at 8 weeks of age. That's when we do ours here.
