When do horns start to grow?

I have a sweet kid who just turned a week old. His name is Huckleberry and I love him lol. Anyway, his mom is polled and I have no idea about his dad. So..when do horns normally start to grow? when would I notice? So far there are none. I am hoping for none. My vet said within their first week. What is your experience? His head is smooth... no signs of horns ...yet.

But feel about on the head... they start as such small round nubs.

If you want them burnt off it must be done while they are still tiny... so first week or 2.

I agree.

Look for swirls in the hair where the horns would be. Swirls = horned and No swirls = polled. Also feel where the horns would be to see if the skin moves. If you can move the skin, he's polled. That is really what I was hoping for! I don't feel anything but a fuzzy round head!
