Wow! I can't believe I remember that! :celebrate

Highlands are very well suited to our climate. I considered them, but chose against it. Mainly for the horns.

Horns yep...we keep saying we will never get another one. But the personality on them is great. There is a farm in Stoddard that has a couple hundred of them. A nice operation, I sold a llama to them a couple years back. They had 3 bulls......all three were in seperate pens, that came into the barn. I walked by, and 2 of them came to the gate looking for scratches and treats. the third one, as I walked by- slammed the gate and bellowed and slammed some more. Scared the bejeesus outta me. The man said, don't mind him, he used to be a rodeo bull. EEEK! Closes I have ever been to a scary old bull like that. Glad I was on the right side of the fence!

Yikes! What makes me think is, who in their right mind would use an old rodeo bull for breeding? :ep

I, personally, love Highlands. Lovable, brown, fuzzy, awesome haircut, what's not to love? How big do they get?

Not too big. the cows we find about 700-800 lbs. Not sure on the bulls, I am thinking 1200 or so. They are not a tall breed, shorter than my angus but wide. Or maybe that is the hair? LOL. No, big boned, beefy and fun to look at. Whats not to like? :love

Yep, I do see them at the fairs as oxen......I am sure they would do well. They certainly have the horns required....

I LOVE that song!

He hid in the forest,
Read books with great zeal,
He loved Che Guevara
A revolutionary veal...

Cow Tse Tongue

LOL
