we are an urban goat home/yard and have two alpines, a nigerian and a nigerian/alpine mix buck one year old. they are all housed together and get along fine although the nigerian is the social outcast, but never anything rough.
last year we had a surprise kidding (our first) with heidi(alpine) and nursed a little buckling and doeling successfully. this year i took my registered french alpine (floie) to be bred with an award winning american alpine buck. the buck belongs to friends and we really love the buck. we bred 12/15/2013, so we are looking for a may delivery. our little buck(beanie) has stayed uninterested in her, she has not come in since the breeding, she is showing a little bit of size and is lower in the belly( maybe my imagination) she is 4 months along today. so we are keeping an eye on her and getting the goat shed cleaned out soon as the weather cooperates . am i doing anything wrong? i did not blood test. i havent given any shots yet. she is very healthy...alfalfa hay and corn/feed mix daily. she is such a wonderful gal....hope im doing right by her. this would be her second kidding. lastime she dropped one male and one female.
also it appears that the little buckling bred the nigerian...she is also registered and a proven quality doe that has dropped three and four kids in the past. although she is about 7 years old.
