We have a buck that is 6 months old... We have full size Nubians. My concern is that he has not paid any attention to them since he has been here (about 2 months now). When he first got here, my girls ran him (which I figured they would, he was the newbie at the time), and that seems to have gone down, but he still wanders off on his own and doesn't really pay much attention to them. He was a bottle baby and a sweetheart, I really like him... Are my girls just too intimidating? Is he going to be able to get the job done? :/

A six month old Nubian might just not have very strong hormones right now, especially if the girls aren't in raging heat. The temps outside can affect fertility too especially in males when the temps are really high. See how things progress later this fall. Even goats that breed year round will have stronger hormonal signals as the fall comes around since spring is really an ideal time for most animals to be born, with the best chances of survival.

Yeah, it might be your girls' problem not your buckling's. Maybe the girls are not going into heat this time of year, yet. My Nubians don't generally go into heat until the fall (late September-ish and later) and the boys show no interest in them until they are in heat.

Thank you very much for the responses! I appreciate it. I guess I will sit tight for the next couple months and see if anything changes
