I started milking one of my goats.. I have read where you should seperate momma from the babies overnight then milk in the morning.... Right now I cant do that cause I have a 2 year old and mornings are still to cold to be taking him out and not to mention rainy and damp most of the times..... Yesterday I took momma from the babies around 2 in the afternoon and then milked around 7 after hubby got home. The babies had the run of the play field w/ the other babies and momma was in the field next to them where they all could keep an eye on each other.. After milking momma got to go back w/ babies... Is this an ok way of doing things for now till the weather gets warmer?

why dont you seperate them during the day and milk in the evenings? same thing only backward.

well i am just starting the whole milking thing so I dont mind not getting a lot of milk.... yesterday i got a little over 1c and could have gotten more but she is just learning the milking process herself and I wanted to end on a good note.. She layes down as soon as i touch her udder so I started putting a bucket under her,,, she isnt a happy girl right now,,,lol... She is a Nigerian dwarf goat and I have more girls due to kid anytime.
