That’s a lot of changes! But good that you are working on what direction you want to go and not getting stuck keeping everything you have.
Good luck with the bull calf.
Good luck with the bull calf.
The calf was only $10 lol, borderline freeNice Boers. And I suppose Nubians for milk....spend time for milking, get enough to make it worthwhile! That's my theory. . Hope you & family use the milk and make other dairy products.
Sick calf? If it wasn't free, not your best move there.. Rabbits good move, IMO. Easy meat if you have the time & fortitude. Just not my thing, that cute factor
Glad you "remembered" us...
Yep I decided I was a tad overwhelmed and needed to make some changes. Some major like selling all the rabbits, some minor like switching my breed of goatsThat’s a lot of changes! But good that you are working on what direction you want to go and not getting stuck keeping everything you have.
Good luck with the bull calf.
I rlly love the Boers, the male is super gentle but definitely not afraid to stand his ground with dogs and such. The females are a tad flighty but they’re in a small pen right now and I think we can get that fixed real quick, they’re very curious so that helps. Fun fact, every one of them had at least one dappled parent. The blond headed one has a dapple on her ear and on her cheek under her ear.Real nice boer hosts. Dappled Boers bring top money at auction.
@farmerjan says Jersey steers make the tastiest meat. She will also tell you NOT to leave him intact, as Jersey bulls are the most dangerous of any breed. I hope he makes it!
Well we got him last Thursday, I have a strong suspicion that he never got colostrum. He’s just very weak and has had scours on and off. He was only six days old when we got him and had already been to three auctions, nobody wanted him.Good to hear from you. Yes, lots of good and not so good news. Your new goats are lovely. I hope your calf makes it. It's weird how tough AND delicate they can be.
You did your best.Calf died, just about 20 min ago.
