I hope you put an end to the turkey predator. They were doing so well and you have put the time and work into them.
When you get your place fenced, you can have a farm dog that will bark and keep predators away. That doesn’t help you right now, but it will in the future. So frustrating not to have your place fenced. I still have my biggest field unfenced, it’s a feral hog playground.

A thousand dollars for the calf? Wow.

Monday.... only down to 70 last night. Muggy.... Scattered showers and storms possible later.

On top of all this, DS's phone has been acting up and it quit when we went to his appt. last Tues. Went by the Verizon store there as he has ins on it and all that... they could not get it to work even with a new sim card... so the guy was great... put in the ins claim... he did all this stuff... and they were going to overnight a new replacement to DS... All this extra aggravation... It didn't come until late Wed night and he went by the nearby Verizon store Thurs morning... and the young guy was rude and uppity, and all DS wanted was for them to do the transfer of stuff so that he didn't want to mess it up... so he left and said he would never be back to their store.. He came and got on the tractor, helped with Deb's water etc... SOoooo... then the widow of the friend that passed in January, fell down her stairs at her house and was in the hosp... and so after he did the mowing Friday morning... we went to see her at the hospital for a little bit...
Of course, Friday was the 4th... so holiday, everything closed... So, Sat after I got on the tractor to tedd and all, he finally went to the other Verizon store where he prefers to go, but it is 25 miles away... and 2 sisters "own it"... not company stores but individually franchised stores... and the one got his stuff all transferred over and he is good again...

Just one thing after another it has seemed.

We wound up with about 1/10 inch from the shower(s) last evening.. not alot but it would have stopped us in the hayfield if we hadn't gotten it all baled/rolled.
I am having some sort of an allergic type reaction today.... itchy eyes and such.... GRRRR:barnie:barnie:barnie:he.

DS just texted me, appt is at 10:45 not 9:45 like he had originally told me, so not pushed. But it will mean we will be home that much later... I am going out to feed the kittens, and take a heavy baling string and hang up the turkey's feeder.

I texted the farm and told her to pick Tues/Wed or Wed/Thurs....either would work. Farm just texted me back, now they want to wait for next week... they are buying 20 new cows.... I am getting sooooo tired of this BS....
Goal is to probably "retire" after Aug 2026... I will have 35 years in. No big bonus or anything... just personal "satisfaction" of 35 years. Started Aug 12, 1991..... I need to have some serious discussions with a couple of my farmers..... the ones I really don't want to leave in the lurch... And, maybe I will be in a different mind frame by that time...

Well, got to get going so I can go get DS in a little bit.

Monday evening. It has been sticky, muggy, humid out. 70 the low, 90 the high. We had a shower.light rain about 2 or so.... forgot to look in the rain gauge...

Took DS to the pain specialist and they are going to do another injection in the spine next month... conference with another dr that referred him to this place and the last one helped some... but they are going to try it just above where they did the last one. Didn't take that long there... but we did get off the bypass sooner than we would have, due to a backup/accident... DS pulls this stuff up on the phone app... and found a nice way to go that was easy and not so much traffic...
He had a pretty bad headache and slept part way down and back...he had gone and done some hay bale moving early, and went and "darted" a couple of cows with pinkeye at pastures...while it is cooler to do stuff out there... After we got back, he said he was going to the house to lay down for a bit. He was not having a very good day.
We did talk about testing and I said that I had to get in touch with the 500 cow herd ,what would work for him... he said Wed or Thurs morning... so texted the herd and they got back to me later this afternoon and so we are going Wed. morning... I will get all the stuff in the explorer tomorrow for that.

I need to get with a few more farmers about testing... we are supposed to have these showers for a few days, then it is going to get hot again... I really really do not want to get in the barns in 90+ degree temps...There are a few that I contact, but many will contact me when they want to test and I will let them make that call....

Went to the place where we made the 2 small sections of hay, they had plums ripening and would I like some... so I stopped by this evening... got a full to the top "plastic groc bag full"... these are small plums,,, but pretty sweet... I will probably just freeze them in chunks for now... maybe make some preserves this winter... They also said that the peach trees and the pear trees are loaded... also gave me a few cukes and some summer squash. I put them in the cooler chest with ice to keep them cool for a day or 2... will add some more ice to keep them from spoiling.

There is also the peach tree at the one hayfield where the lady passed away, and the nephew said to make the hay and everything we normally do..... it is now on the market...she told me to get the peaches 2 years ago when the deer were coming and eating them right off the tree...her health was not good, she had had a stroke, her husband had passed away a couple years before.... and so I have got to take a few 2x4's or something to prop up the branches... or they will break it is sooo loaded down... I will go pick them once they get ripe enough which should be in a couple weeks. I will can them in slices, or chunks.... halves look nice but they take up too much space in the jar... and maybe freeze some for making jam or peach butter this winter also. I bet I got 6-10 5 gallon buckets from there 2 years ago... no spray, nothing...They are nice peaches.

I think I will be swimming in fruit... but that is pretty normal to have abundant fruit production every other year oftentimes. I need to get things cleaned up in the kitchen to make it easier to do this stuff...

Time to defrost some freezers, get things reorganized... plus there is my steer that is going to get done in Sept... I am trying to eat out of the freezers now... NOT put much back into them... but they do need to be defrosted too.

Went to snyder's and most of the calves came in for grain... one is real spooky.... DS darted 2 cows there this morning...for pinkeye... I sprayed them for flies also as I was doing the calves and looking them over... I had mentioned that one had a squinty, runny eye... he said there were 2 more... Betsy the jersey has a runny eye also... I will get her in the barn tomorrow and do her myself.... One of the holstein heifer twins, that are there to get bred, has a bad eye....he did her.

I will carry water and all for the chickens and turkeys in the morning since it was dark when I got home... stopped and got a bag of ice since I don't have enough in the freezer, for the plums and all... then I will go to Sharp Shopper... haven't been in a couple weeks and I am out of bread and want to check on other stuff...
Maybe it will not rain and I can try to get my yard mowed since I got the mower back from Deb yesterday.
Need to get things straightened up, and the plants will get a good watering since it looks like more hit and miss showers. .1 inch isn't enough to keep the potted stuff watered.

Time to go to bed.

Oh, they did call about the blood work... NOW... please EXPLAIN to me... if Vit D3 is the "sunshine" vitamin... how in god's green earth am I DEFICIENT... with all the time I spend in direct sunlight... but I am, so back to taking vit D3... also my B vitamins are low... she said specifically which one but I have to go back and pull up the voice mail... so I am taking a B-complex...since I had them already.
No Lyme in the bloodwork... so now have to figure out this nagging constant low back ache... nd with all that has been going on with hay and all, I just remembered I am supposed to make an apt for the bone density thing... so tomorrow I will call for that. Then once they get those results... if I still have the back ache... I will address it with them. But it does ache nearly all day..... Ibup... and tylenol will dull it some... but that is not telling what is causing it, or fixing it...

Vitamin D is fat-soluble, so take with food that has fat in it. Maybe with your largest meal of the day .

This is difficult as this time of yr you don't always have a "meal". It's grab a sandwich, etc. Chicken or tuna salads with mayo; toast buttered, a glass of milk, eggs, avocado. Those can help gut absorption. 🤷 age also plays a part in processes.

The back pain is worrisome, as well as painful 😣. Does something like aspercreme help back?

K helps with absorption of D. My D was chronically low until I started taking K. The D level went from the teens up to 30's after taking K for two weeks. It stays in the 60s now, which is great for immunity.
