I’m glad you have a son from your Lewis ram. I finally got a registered son from beloved Ringo, born after he died. That was a nail biter! The other two ewes that were with him came up open, so I was real lucky to get such a fine ram.

I have the roll-on one too. It is super easy to apply.

Rika not doing so well. Second day we have dosed her with arthritis meds both am and pm. she is laying out in the sun which probably feels good on her sore bones. The weather has been cool at night - about 50 degrees and about 65-70 degrees during the day. Super pleasant, and the reason so many residents view leaving California's weather with sadness. On the other hand, you only have to deal with the crazy liberal governor and his schemes here a couple years and you can't get out fast enough.

Another home invasion, this time in Granada Hills - about 10 miles from us. Three or four armed men broke in. The homeowner was there with his elderly grandmother and his infant child. He managed to get his gun and killed one. Naturally the scene on the news was of the police handcuffing and arresting the homeowner who was wearing a T-shirt and shorts. They will probably prosecute him for murder even though the grandmother and baby were in danger from the armed crooks. Really disgusting.

More and more people in liberal cities and states are having to protect themselves from criminals. The police won't or can't protect us without being accused of racism, etc. Often in these liberal cities the government restricts the police from doing their job. Like DH says - he "would rather be judged by 12, than carried by 6"! Purchases of handguns going up again, this time among Jews. Who can blame anyone for wanting to be protected? Jews are in danger from all these brainless people that are supporting the Palestinian terrorists!

Anyway, got up this am and did 2 loads of laundry. Then removed the cookies from DH who had managed to hobble to the family room on his cane, get his coffee, and a tin of cookies from the table. He did something to his knee (the one that he just had operated on) yesterday or the during the night before. He could hardly put weight on it, it got pretty swollen, and he said it wouldn't bend. He did not do his exercises yesterday and I told him not to do them today even though the swelling went down. He has PT this morning and we will see what the therapist says. I might have to take him in to orthopedics this afternoon.

Fed the sheep and watered in all pens, horses ditto, and opened the field pen. The others are in fairly large pens so don't need to be turned out. The crayons don't seem to be marking so I will have to just write lambing dates down for a 2 week to one month period. They will lamb in the large barn pen, or in an outside pen on grass. I prefer them to lamb inside the barn so I can keep them safe from the black vultures. There were 4 or 5 flying overhead when we were in Yantis. I will need to apply for a permit to shoot them. I wonder what I could poison them with. They supposedly nest in the house next door where the roof caved in. I could toss poison bait into the attic where they would find it. At night of course. Wearing my black Ninja outfit. LOL

Took DH to PT. Therapist said the knee was ok but not to exercise it for a day or two. Swelling has gone down but DH said whatever the therapist did to the leg was painful. Massaging and bending I think. Brought him home and settled him in recliner with coffee and Ibuprofen for inflammation and swelling.

Got my bill for renewal of Livestock Weekly, annual dues for Anatolian and Dorper breeders associations. Sheep prices leveled out last week. Called USDA APHIS about obtaining Texas scrapie tags. I gave Ms. Scott my information and she said when we are on the road with the sheep to call her and she will issue my number. She said don't tag the next crop of lambs with my CA number since they will be born in TX. The first 100 tags are free from the state but we have to buy another new tagger. I already have 3 other brands of taggers - this will make #4. Anyway, DS1 said that he saw some faint marks on the ewes, so I guess they are being covered. I just wish we had definite dates. Need to make a couple more appointments and make a few business calls - if I could remember what they are!  Lately I forget what I have to do before I can write it on my list!

I have a real mess of paperwork on my desk. I need to move it all into the bedroom and sort it on the bed. (Largest empty flat area in the house!) Then do filing, etc.
I hate doing the work, but I love being organized.

Tonight Nicholas finally opened his birthday gifts. They included some Christmas gifts from other relatives too since kids won't be here for Christmas. We may wait until the ids get back in February to give them some of their gifts. DS1 picked Annabel up from preschool/daycare because DD2 worked late. All 3 kids were playing together with the new toys. Robert got a construction digger and was completely enthralled. His beloved crane was forgotten. He kept picking stuff up with his digger and putting it into other places. These kids are getting so cute now. Robert is growing up and baby Nicholas is always smiling and laughing. Annabel is adorable. Going to miss them H and I were discussing our move last night and he was taking about a conversation he had with DS2. DS2 thinks we are too old to move to Texas and ranch sheep. DH told me that he is tired of our kids trying to control what we do. There was something on The 5 about Millennials complaining their Boomer parents are "deserting them". Instead of sitting at home waiting to babysit for their kids, Boomers are enjoying their retirements traveling etc. In other words, they have lives and are living them. Their millennial children are upset that mom and dad are not waiting around to be free babysitters but instead are out enjoying themselves. DH said that we owe this move to ourselves. We raised our kids and were just about to start traveling in our 5th wheel when we adopted DD2. Back to middle school, high school, football games, teacher conferences, high school football games, teenage drama, school fundraisers, then full-time babysitting our grandkids while DD1 worked, and more school open houses, Science Fairs, Christmas programs, fundraisers, etc. again. I feel like we have never escaped from parenthood for the past 46 years. I looked around at the family room filled with children's toys and realized that for the past 46 years our home has been cluttered with baby equipment, changing tables, outdoor play equipment, children of all ages and their toys and equipment throughout the house and yard! I was feeling guilty about taking DH away from his grandbabies until he said he was looking forward to this last adventure. He said he thought we would really enjoy our lives in Yantis, we love small town living, knowing everyone and everyone knowing you. We don't even worry about everyone knowing our business since there are no skeletons in our closets. Actually, it makes things easier if everyone knows about your business. LOL We are looking forward to making friends in our small church, playing bridge with a small group, and being active in community events.

Now, if only we can finally get there!

I’m glad you no longer feel guilty about dragging your DH off on a large adventure. It’s way overdue. Better late than never and y’all are going to have fun doing what makes y’all happy.

That strikes a chord, my DD and DSIL wanted me to move into a tiny guest house on their 1 1/2 acres. I could bring my sheep! And not my barking dogs! And be a built in babysitter while the 2 of them took off having fun. Uhhh…. NO!
DS said, Mom, you do you. He doesn’t understand my obsession with sheep, but I pointed out if it was cattle, he’d understand.

So instead of downsizing, I bought a bigger place-that needs everything $$$$$$$. I’m doing what makes me happy and that is not sitting around in a tiny house, in a city, being told what to do, and waiting to die.

I've been "doing what I do" for a long time. . No regrets. What else would I do? Some days, more aggravation than I need but, that's life! (with goats). Move -- they can visit when they want.

You did hear Jesse Watter's report about Millennials saying their parents (Boomers) are "deserting them" by not sitting around waiting to babysit the grandkids! DH and I had to pay for babysitters!

Love my grandkids but I would like to have some fun with DH now.
