I use mana pro too. I have seen my doe licking at it but not my buck. I just kept offering. I only put out a small amount for him to see if he tries it and now I can tell when he does. He just never lets me see.
I have been feeding my lactating doe alfalfa pellets with her grain. She just picks at her hay that she has out all the time. SHould I offer the alfalfa free choice? I was afraid she would eat too much because she loves it.
I want to get her alfalfa hay but geez it is 28 dollars a bale here...
I am a very new goat owner but as a precausion from all that I am reading I would also give him a dose of Probiotics to help is rumien along. I am about to do this with my 4 day old babies since they are already nibbling around. Let me know what any of you experts think please.
When I first brought my goats home I fed them a little Dumor Sweet feed, alfalfa pellets, and slowly added in (black oil sunflower seeds for my preg doe) and hay. The hay is meadow grass hay. They picked around everything for the sweet feed only but after a week they ate everything I offered...
Aw Thank you! I only posted there because I am so excited about the new little guys! I took a look at your website and love it! I bet you all have fun! I just very well may have the visit the mountain state fair this year!
I have been stuck in goat forum being a new goat owner and just saw this! I wanted to introduce myself. I live in the mountains in NC on about 2 acres. We used to have a horse and donkey but sold them to a larger ranch. I had an accident and was no longer able to ride. We finally decided to...
I dont think I have but I have done alot of research so maybe I just dont remember. He has calmed down a bit. I took the mom and babies for a walk yesterday so he could see them and he seemed content. We were so very unprepared as our fencing is not complete so we have been rigging on the fly...
I get so tired of that. People build these houses in a country area but want nothing but quiet with manicured lawns and mulch. I live in the mountains here in NC and I get so angry when people complain about animals. HELLO you live in the MOUNTAINS, yes there were bears, deer and turkeys and...
Our doe just had two kids. I was considering disbudding but I think we will let them have horns. My husband wants them to have horns and I think I agree. Ours seem very careful with the horns however our goats are small and I do not have small children. If I had larger goats then I might...
I am so very new to goats but I had to comment. This is so interesting! From a common sense sort of view I think you are right. I am so glad to have found this forum!
Haha if my neighbors dont kill me..He is really missing his girl but yeah I wanted to protect the little one so I did what had to be done. He wasnt trying to hurt them but just would not let mama take care of them. She is a first time mom too but is doing a great job!
Thank you! I am so excited to have them but nervous as well. Our Buck can see them though and boy is he having a fit, I would rather be safe than sorry. He was acting so possesive and I would not have it.
