    Carnivorous wasp?

That makes alot more sense. The bald faced hornets do "catch" and eat flies... I have seen them do it...when flies are sluggish when it gets a little chillier, I have seen the hornets go along and grab them off the side of a wall, where they were gathering to get warmed up.... so it was...

In for some tomato sandwiches. Neighbor called and wanted me to come get some corn, he told DS and he never passed on the message. He has all kinds of ripe tomatoes, so got a half dozen BIG ones for sandwiches, got about 2 dozen ears that are getting "mature".... will see what they taste like...

    Doeling with WMD

Bo-Se has to be processed through her system, blood stream, to get into her muscles so it will take a bit of time... 3-5 days minimum for any improvement to be seen in calves and usually a week before it is "obvious"... Good luck with her....

    Farmerjan's journal - Weather

Monday evening... Was another hot and muggy one but no rain today... 66 but up to 90 , mostly sun all day. Took DS to hospital to get the 2nd round of botox shots, that they have decided to try as some have had good relief from migraine type headaches from them. Was there about an hour or so...

    Baymule’s 2024 Lambing plus 12-23

Sad, but what @Finnie said is true. The conditions culled the flock for you, and yes, it was a great financial kick for you... but as you said, genetics of what is left, even if not as "grown" as you would like, will come through. Financially you will do better with them as soon as you get...

    Baymule’s 2025 Lambing

Sad to tell you, but more than likely the ones put in early are not bred.... or not many. Even with the Katahdins being a longer season breeder, they are still sheep and still have hormones working with the polyestrous seasonal breeding. Sheep are what we always called "photo estrous"... they...

The journey into the abyss of no return

Do not space further apart or lambs/kids will get their heads through and get stuck. That size, they can pull the hay through and not as much will get wasted. Further apart, more will get pulled through, more wasted, possible heads stuck... problems. How far apart are they? 4x4 inch woven...

Ridgetop - our place and how we muddle along

Get the tractor guy out and get it apart to find out what the problem is. There might have to be parts ordered... may take time... You don't need it down for weeks AFTER you get back to TX... DS1 is a grown man, he can take care of dealing with the tractor people.. Best time for it to be...

    Baymule’s Journal

It will eventually be used to identify people that maybe cause a ruckus at games, it will give them an "in" to find people that they may have some sort of "trumped up" reason to want to investigate. Wait until this AI (as in artificial intelligence as opposed to artificial insemination that I...

    Carnivorous wasp?

I have never known the bald faced hornet to be aggressive unless you get too close to their nest... They make those big hanging grey paper mache' looking nests that hang in trees or shrubs or in the corner of a porch or barn. I have walked by them within 10 feet and never known they were there...

Teresa & Mike CHS - Our journal

I'm with you on this. Let's face it, there will always be this virus around... and yes, some of the complications are worse than a cold, but the flu has been around forever, and people do not hide in their house just because they are exposed to it. I am just "over it" with all the hype. Keep...

For the most part cows are not that hard to contain. We have then separated with a 2 strand elec wire from some very lush green grass at the one pasture... they will not breech it once bitten by the elec shock unless they are really really hungry. Many places they use a single hot wire to...

    Brahmerqueen's lamb/sheep journal

The type and bodies on the sheep are very nice... no offense but the leg hair and all makes me think of poodles... and I do not care for poodles especially much. Besides all that fluff is totally impractical in the real world of raising sheep... hides all sorts of leg and feet problems, angles...

Why is my buck losing hair on his back

New hair growth will start in 1-3 weeks, but it might take a month or 3 months to see any real improvement... depends on how deficient they actually are on zinc... their whole body will absorb it and utilize it before it specifically goes to hair growth... one week of supplement is like 1 minute...

No, you're not crazy. I also give you credit for thinking there is something not right and trying to get at the root of it... Especially if you are new with sheep in general. Let us know what the vet says..... hope it is just needing a good worming, thinking it might need to be a different...
