Peteyfoozer’s Journey (because journaling’s not enough)

Did WAY more than I should have or planned to, today. But sourdough got baked, rabbit meat boned out and canned, dishes done, kitchen cleaned, 3 dozen scotch cookies made for Randy, kitchen cleaned again, top of stove scrubbed from Randy’s cooking while I was immobilized (why do men NEVER think...

Peteyfoozer’s Journey (because journaling’s not enough)

Maybe I’m crazy but I am thanking God today for the pain because ut helps me stop “wanting” This morning reminds me why I can never have another cow…or any of the other things I so enjoyed that are no longer with me. I’m overwhelmed and unable to manage anything besides getting the sourdough...

Peteyfoozer’s Journey (because journaling’s not enough)

@farmerjan you’ll get no argument from me! I firmly agree on every point. But my hands are tied. I loan my milker to them to use. Hopefully I will get it back someday, and clean, but will probably never use it again myself. Too much here is disposable. Cows, horses, dogs and me.

I agree it would be better for her to milk her. But he will have his DIL clear her, then they will kick her out somewhere on the 250,000 acres until there’s another leppie and assume her milk will just BE there, in a healthy udder..their thing is beef. They BUY eggs 4 hr away in town instead...

Peteyfoozer’s Journey (because journaling’s not enough)

Thanks @farmerjan ! I appreciate your knowledge and input. I’m talking myself out of it. Nurse cow belongs to the boss so I won’t be able to milk her. I just miss my raw milk and all the things I used to do. I’m not accepting limitations very gracefully, but I’m gonna have to learn how.

No, she’s 1/4 Jersey 3/4 Angus. It works well because my inflations were for my Jersey and I don’t have bigger ones for fat teated cows. Although in the pic they are already stripped. They JUST fit in the inflations. The Dexter is in Idaho. I just want one. Badly. I miss raw milk and miss making...

Peteyfoozer’s Journey (because journaling’s not enough)

I just caught the Liddle Biddy Book Club trying to mosey their way under the deck. This brought back a nightmare of a memory when I found some other old hens let over a dozen eggs go rotten under there about 11 years ago I got down, and wore myself out dragging them to me and filling my arms...

    Coffee anyone ?

The issue I have with mornings is that everyone, including the dogs, seem to expect me to wake up and get dressed. What’s with that?

Peteyfoozer’s Journey (because journaling’s not enough)

Sadly, the leppie died last night. The nurse cow has mastitis in a back quarter (surprised she doesn’t have it in all 4 with just one calf on her…) Boone and Fen played their morning game of tag and the cow was stripped with my bucket milker

Peteyfoozer’s Journey (because journaling’s not enough)

The nurse cow has huge bag. Idk what she produces. since there has only been her calf sucking. The new leppie calf is having a hard time so they decided to milk her and bottle feed him. We spent the afternoon looking for all the parts we need to put my old belly milker back together. Looks like...

Figured I better get off the coffee thread..got hopelessly lost, responding to comments from the ice age… Rough morning. Lost power all night until almost 10 this morning. Body battle over yesterday’s activities and add gale force winds and SNOW 😡, no coffee cuz no power and it’s the perfect...

    Coffee anyone ?

TheMan gets those often! He wakes up screaming. Once a muscle near his groin cramped so badly it tore!! With him it’s something genetic as his mom and daughter also get them 😞 What a horrible way to spend a night!

Teresa & Mike CHS - Our journal

You need snake gaiters in S CA? We had lots of diamond backs and mojave greens (some) and a few timber rattlers in Tehachapi…lots of rattlers here as well… trying to imagine where you are walking wearing those 😳. I would buy a couple long sets to put in my horse and my feet would never hit the...

Peteyfoozer’s Journey (because journaling’s not enough)

Isn’t it awesome? It goes all the way down past the big barn. Almost everything here is built of indigenous stone. (Including our house and the cowboy cabins) Rock is one thing we have in abundance. And it is an awesome backdrop for flowers 😍

Peteyfoozer’s Journey (because journaling’s not enough)

Watching happy dogs just does something to me. They give and give, forgive, love without boundaries, beyond reason. It just fills me to see something that tickles them. Tonight the best was watching Fen’s fine dining experience. As it was processing day, I had a plethora of treats for them and...
