Okay guys, Elvis started a series of antibiotic shots. Bc of his temp being at 103.7 vet says try antibiotics first. I'm pretty sure this is what's going on, too, after talking with him. He took blood and stool and is supposed to be running tests to make sure. Wish us luck!!
Not a 'livestock vet'. There's a small animal vet that I could take him to, but I'm not sure if they even take goats. I will call and find out, though.... Thank god my vet does farm calls
It is actually from the penis... He isn't acting like he's in a lot of pain, but I imagine he's in pain... How do I take a goat's temp?? I mean, I know HOW, but what's a normal temp??
Okay, so this morning when I went out to make sure all my animals have water I noticed Elvis all hunched over. Weird by itself, but then I noticed the BLOOD dripping from his penis!!!! I'm so scared. Have called the vet and am waiting for a call back, but I am freaking out about this. Now he is...
Elvis is VERY noisey especially when he thinks it's time to be fed. NOW. He cries every time he catches a glimpse of me.... Baby hardly ever talks.
Also, whatever number we are on- goats think they should be allowed in the house and try to make themselves at home whenever the door is left open a...
I always quarantine new animals. When I was a kid I brought in a new duck and just put it with all my others. The very next day I had two dead hens... And it was because of a respitory virus that hit my ducks hard. She showed no signs of sickness, but was the cause of two deaths and a lot of...
I take offense to that!! Lol
They're like tattoos, you get addicted.
I already want to get another goat and am about to do some rabbit trading. Lol. Not to mention my turkey eggs in the incubator that I pray hatch successfully :fl
I just got seven more sarama bantams, and I think one just...
That sounds so cool!! I have a scope, but it a pretty cheap one and I can't find parts for it. One of the lenses broke. I will definitely be getting a new one. Now I just need someone to teach me. This could really come in handy with Baby (or special needs goat) when his feet problems flare...
@babsbag why does everyone say to use so much more??
I will try to do a little more research... But what other is a good alternative to safeguard?
I'm pretty sure Elvis wouldn't eat pellet form... He's the pickiest goat in the world. I'm just thinking I want something easy to administer and...
This is just a random question I have, well, a couple of questions. Maybe it could help, too...
I've always used safeguard for my horses, but I have seen A LOT of debate on here about it. No real conclusions, but a lot of debate.
Does it work?? It does for my horses, but what about the goat...
