I have also heard that if the buck you have has horns, then you want to get another with horns or vice versa. That way no one gets hurt.
If this is not true please correct me.
For worming I'm going to take a class in FAMACHA. It's a technique for detecting worms by looking at their eye lid color.
I don't want to worm them if they don't need to be.
I have read of some herbal supplements that people use as well.
They are doing better today. The poos are back to normal. They got extra probiotics yesterday and today. I was going to get a fecal test and when I collected fresh samples, they both looked like they should. Individual berries. I would like to avoid meds. I think they are getting more used to...
I know this is an old post, but it is the only thread I found for what I'm seeing.
Got two 4 month old doelings a week ago. Two days ago I noticed a little bit of clumping. By clumping I mean the berries are individual berries, but stuck together. if you move it with your boot they fall apart...
I really appreciate your wisdom.
i only have the buckskin from behind. we are going to visit them next week and make our final decisions.
We want them to be good dairy goat but aren't too worried about them being the best milkers. between the two we should have plenty of milk for us and cheese...
i learned about Chaff from the herd owner of my soon to be doelings. She is already feeding it to them. It's more of a supplement, but they already like it. I'll have some alfalfa cubes for them too. I'll probably soak them before giving the cubes.
i'm hoping to use Chaff exclusively as far as hay goes. they will forage and get minerals. I'm getting my goats next week and will let others know how it goes.
We are lucky to live near countryside organic. We use their soy free organic chicken feeds for our flock and it's been great.
I plan on using their goat feed and minerals, but we don't have our goats yet. Soon.
I'm very excited to have found a couple lovely doelings to start my dairy herd. They are Nigerian Dwarfs.
We are located in VA near Lexington, va.
Can't wait to be able to post some photos to get advice about their confirmation.
I thought they could start breeding at 8 weeks or so.
I bet he an get the job done, but if he isn't full grown, do you know if he is a good fit with your doe? I'm new to this too.
Is this a good place to get some advice on a couple of Nigerian dwarfs? I have some photos of the girls I'm thinking of buying. I think they look great, but need some more eyes on them.
