I wouldn't think sore mouth if it is just that spot and puss came out. I would put Neosporin on it and wash your hands after you touch it, just incase. I bet it will heal in a few days.
yes, I would go in and ask to talk to a manager and ask for an application to fill out, even if there is no sign up looking for help. Look the manager straight in the eye(politely) and shake his/her hand and introduce yourself. Ask for an application and explain you would like a chance to...
But seriously we give farm tours for 6 to 10 families/couples a year that want to consider raising goats. We just tell them about the work and the hours we spend doing it and the hay stack and the mud and the hoof trimming, ect... Talk about trying to go on a vacation and I would say more...
not sure about small breed rabbits, but the 1/2 x 1 inch is fine for the larger breed rabbits, like Bossroo already said. also rabbit poop is less likely to build up on it if you use as big a holes as possible, the 1/2 x 1/2 can collect the poop a little too easily.
We tried to run a wire...
You can use a play yard or fence shaped into a play yard for the child or a couple children to sit inside with the rabbit on the ground, that way the rabbit can not run off and the child does not have to hold the rabbit it his/her arms.
I have a daycare and raise silver Fox rabbits for meat. they are a very calm breed. Good practice for them to do light weight chores. But rabbits that are not handled on a regular basis can be tricky to handle even at 2 or 3 weeks of age.
Hello: looks like you are keeping busy. Hope your year goes well for you all. Kids are so cute. The waddles are adorable. We have our first kids due end of this month.
we trim ours late pregnancy, I just wouldn't be too rough on her . She does seem tender footed. Personally, I would use Koppertox or another hoof and heal product and not blue kote, Also you can put LA 200 or similar product like biomycin between her toes.
Normally if it is pregnancy toxemia...
I am sure I will miss something, but we run 20 to 30 adults per year for the past 17 years, we kid out on average 20 does a year.
Boer and boer x Nubian crosses
- had one vaginal prolapse doe near the end of her gestation that repeated two years in a row and needed to be culled.
-had one doe...
I am not a fan of key hole feeders and if you have different sized goats, a smaller goat with their head stuck in the key hole feeder could get rammed. Honestly, I have not used key hole feeders, but I just don't see it being that user friendly with goats always banging into each other.
If they have a dry place to lay down out of the wind they are normally fine. Lack of fresh air and poor circulation can cause more problems with pneumonia than the cold will cause. We were 1 degrees last night with a windchill of 20 below and some of my goats were sleeping outside instead of...
Keep them too closed in with not enough air circulation can be worse for them than the cold, if they are out of the wind and have a dry place to lay down with enough to eat they will be okay.
we have outside hutches. Not as fancy a set up as some, but getting the job done .we raise meat rabbits and silver fox RAbbits.
Older hutch we got used from craigslist each hole is 4x2, with 2x2 wire front and 2x2 wooden back, back also has a door that opens up. Rabbits stay kind of skiddish...
All opinions are welcome, We had problems with a store bought bagged feed and we switched to our own ration and took out distillers grains our problems let up. I can't explain this very well, but Monensin/rumensin is set up to let a certain amount of cocci live(it is called something) it is not...
there is no withdrawal for selling the goats for meat, we don't milk. We do feed it to our adults, But most our adults after age 2 are only fed grain when they are either being flushed for breeding or 1 month before they kid and while they are nursing for about 8 to 10 weeks, So they would be...
I would think 1 1/2 to 2 hours morning and then again before dark would be helpful on the feed bill. I notice mine graze early in the morning and then nap and lay around a lot for the afternoon and graze again before dark.
I have heard of several cases of cocci in adults this fall, Way later in the year than you normally would hear about it. Very sorry for such a tough year. We also had a couple tough losses and are looking forward to a better year next year.
