Sky Warrior's Kidding Thread -- Heidi FINALLY kidded!!!

Very cute kids. Hubby and I have both made the "I thought that was a girl" mistake at least once. Now we check for holes instead of danglies. One hole=boy, 2 holes=girl. Much more accurate. I think some of the boys don't' drop the danglies right away.

First Time Baby Goat Owner Urgent Questions

The runny yellow poop is perfectly normal, though usually only in the first week. It is hard to say how old those babies are but they look older than a week. I agree with the other posters, don't worry about it, just keep an eye on things. The yellow poop can be very sticky, make sure the...

Our first goats and already scours

Moving and weaning are very stressful for kids. They can eat plain yogurt to give probiotics. You can buy a powdered probiotic for goats but yogurt is fine, you may have to drench it. What color are the scours? Are they dark brown or greenish? Do they smell really bad? Since they are...

norseofcourse's journal - spring and show update

You should come down to Pendleton County for the Wool Fest. I hope Elding clears out the nasty mustard. We have the same trouble with mint, nothing will eat it and it is so invasive.

I haven't been here a in a few weeks, it has been crazy. All the goats are out in the field so now I can clean out the barn. I am still figuring out who is going to the buck test, I have a few good choices. All of the bottle tramps are weaned. I have 4 does left to kid. The four that were...

    Barn Fire- 40 goats dead

The cause of the fire was heat lamps. They had brand new babies and temps down in the 30's. It breaks my heart. :hit

Pics - Poppy Kidded - Update

I have had some do that to me before. Reject the baby the first day and then take care of it. I think they sometimes need to recover after birth. She is adorable!

Please help I am a new mom to a baby goat

You might get better responses if you start your own thread but... Mine go out in single digit temps with their mommies. If they are eating well, they will be fine. I would let them out as long as it is not raining. Sunshine and exercise are good for them. I would not use a heat source...

    Barn Fire- 40 goats dead

This happened this morning, maybe 15 miles from me. I don't know the owner but as President of the Northern Kentucky Goat Producers I am trying to find a way to help. http://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/2014/04/10/crews-on-scene-of-walton-barn-fire/7539093/ Just a reminder to all of us how...

    My New BOYS!!!

:love Adorable! Looks like the weather cleared up some. Ohio weather has been pretty sucky this year. My boy was up in Dayton yesterday for a trap shoot and the kids were miserable. Rain, Wind, Sleet, Snow.., you name it. Not a good day for baby goats to be introduced to their new homes...
