Yearling registered (with ASBA) Southdown ewe for sale. Born 2/26/13. She lambed this spring with a single lamb, and was an excellent mother. Ready to be bred again this fall! $200
Southdown Ewe lamb for sale, purebred. She's not registered, but can be. Born 2/28/14. Full sister to ewe above...
Goat milker for sale. It has a Dayton motor, Waikato vacuum pump, Sentinel vacuum controller, Interpuls pulsator, and I'm not sure what brand the bucket and claw assembly are. I bought it last year, thinking I'd need it for my goats, but since I am only milking 3, I have decided I'd rather sell...
I'm selling my yearling Ober doe, Nessarose. She is in milk, and is CAE and Johnnes negative. She's very easy to hand milk. $350 Located in Millington, MD.
I'm selling my ram so I can get some new bloodlines since I kept a daughter of his. He'll be 2 in March, is a proven breeder, and has always been well mannered. $200 Registered with ASBA. Located on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. If you're interested, it's best to email me, at...
I'm not sure about how strict the breed standard is for markings, but the rabbit on top (the doe?) doesn't have a full dark nose OR feet...so possibly that is the crossed one? Or she's mostly Californian with something else somewhere back in her line?
Congrats on the babies though, and glad...
Sorry, but this is not a good idea. The lambs/kids MUST be warm before you feed them. If they're too cold to stand and nurse, then they're too cold to properly digest the milk which can cause problems. Warm first, then feed! :) Now of course, if the lamb/kid is chilled but can still stand...
IMO, 8-12 weeks is not too old to band. I've banded plenty that age. As long as the testicles fit through the band, you can band. It's pretty common to have ram lambs banded at that age, especially for club lambs for 4-H (or FFA). I think surgically castrating would be too much hassle for...
So what's the reason for Predef? I'm not familiar with that.
If she has ketosis, it's likely because she does not have enough room in her rumen for enough feed to support her and the growing babies. The babies grown and compress the rumen, which doesn't allow her to take in enough food, even...
Hmm...I'm not sure that's normal. Normally when I've seen animals act like that there's something wrong....like pregnancy toxemia. I'd be concerned if she's not eating.
Be careful about bandaging. If it gets wet it can hold bacteria in. I'd be more inclined to just spray it with a wound spray and keep her on clean straw bedding until it scabs over well.
Did she go off feed at all before lambing? Sounds like she could have had a bit of pregnancy toxemia and can't bounce back well. I'd treat her with some propylene glycol, deworm her, try calcium like Purple said, and make sure she stays in a jug with her lambs so you can keep a closer eye on...
Got the flock sheared on Sunday! Then I put them out in the yard to graze yesterday, and they loved it. Finally the grass is growing, but the only part tall enough to graze was the side yard. I fertilized their pasture a couple weeks ago, so I have high hopes for good production this year...
Emily sheared my sheep on Sunday! I love her, she is so great! Good luck with shearing day! The ram pen looks good too, and better it be too big than too small! I bet the ewes are glad to be out on pasture!
