One of my little guys has an on again, off again bout of scours. Now it's ON again. I have kaopectate, but he's not taking it, should i use a syringe and squirt it?
Hi guys,
My 2 yr old Nigerian Wether keeps coming down with intermittent scours. Not super bad, but bad enough that his butt area gets black. He eats dry hay with his 3 other buddies (3 girls) all the same age from the same herd.
I give him Vanilla Kaopectate 2x a day, and he usually is back...
Hi All,
I'm sure this has been answered multiple times, and I've checked out several threads, but I'm wondering...how much and how often do I administer kaopectate to a 2 yr old wether with scours. He's eating hay and drinking water and is pretty active. He's with 3 other goats, all girls, and...
Hi, my Nigerians can be pretty picky also. They HATE coarse, stemmy, grass. They just pick through it and most of it ends up on the ground, so I try and feed them a softer grass. Second cut is good too. Mine have also figured out that when they get a bale that they like, they will even clean up...
Hi Bayleaf,
I forgot to include the fact that my cattle are all Minis, so we like to handle them and socialize them especially since we're not planning on eating them! My neice with Dorothy who is full grown.
Hi all, trying to determine if I'm doing this right! I have him in a 24x12 pen with hay and water. I go in 2 to 3x a day to pet and hang out with him. I bring a little sweet feed at times too.
I stay at one end of the pen and call him as I shake the feed. Hey will slowly approach. I can feed...
I know ours have LH, Zebu, Hereford, Dexter. I guess they are the "mutts" of the mini world. I'm fine with that,I just like the way they look with the brindle's and the paint and all the great colors that they have. Plus they're really docile and make great pets for small farms.
Good call GB....he does have a good bunch of LH in him. I'm pretty sure that Western Heritage is considered a breed. There's no registry that I know of though.
We just started to breed and raise Western Heritage cattle here at Little Friends Farm. He's our first little steer, and are expecting to continue to grow our herd this spring.
Hi all, when it comes time to wean, I've seen YouTube vids on the low stress nose weaning paddles.
Looks interesting....anyone have any experience with them? Some have little spikes, some are just flaps..
I'm curious....they seem to make the process...
Hi guys,
I had my vet use Cydectin on my 4 Mini heifers on 11/24/16. I've been pasturing them so i'm wondering when it's time to do it again? Also, I have an almost 3 month calf, when should I worm him? Here's a pic of him. His name is Bogo...as in Buy one Get one...
Thanks.
Sean
Here's a few pics of our First New Baby, born 4/9 to Princess Dana. We were VERY SURPRISED with this little guy, as when we purchased his mom last fall, we didn't know that she "might be pregnant!"
They are both doing great!
