    Ewe with my goats

We got a Corriedale Oxford X lamb last spring. She is doing well with my goats. She's on pasture and is quite plump. She's pooping large 3" poop patties, from either lots of grass/weeds or she's wormy. I'm going to worm her this weekend. What's the protocol getting a sheep sheared with...

    Strip cups

I usually have a cat or dog standing by licking their chops, waitin' for some warm milk in their bowl. They get the first few squirts. :P

People with goats I need help telling when babies are polled!!

He is def polled if he's a month old. Look for sharpness on the does. If it's just kinda round and not sharp and no sign of growth with a week or two, then you can tell.

People with goats I need help telling when babies are polled!!

Our twins were polled this year. If a buck doesn't have knobs by the time they are 3 to 4 days old then they most likely are polled. Does take a little longer to tell. Also, if there is not much swirl and the hair just kinda goes flat, then it's a sign they're polled. Does take a little...

    Cheesemaking/Age of mlk

Okay, thanks. I like to freeze mozzarella. When I use it in recipes/mainly pizza, I shred it frozen and like that better than when it's soft.

How old is too old for using raw milk to make mozz? I make this all the time with left over milk, but is week old milk too old? I usually freeze the cheese.

    Purchasing a buck...question

I've never kept a buck very long so I don't know...I found a purebred Toggenburg buck for my female. He's 8 months old, gentle, hand raised, exc bloodlines. I really love this breed and would like to raise more and sell them. If he gets my girl pregnant and the other females are pregnant can...

Goat throwing "fits" on the milking stand...

My Sanaan is going through the same thing right now. It's sooo aggravating! She's being very picky about her feed. To buy me some time to milk her, I throw some Calf Manna in her feed bucket and she picks through it.

    Doeling has double teats....

Looks more like the #8 in the link which is a split teat. Her mom is pure Sanaan and an awesome milker. Not interested in showing/registering, just increasing our dairy herd. There are people in the local classifieds looking for Boer meat goats. She's only 1/3 Boer, is that desirable? I'll...

    Doeling has double teats....

So finally I inspect the doeling's teats at 1 week old, only to find both teats have two tiny nipples 2x2. What a bummer! Our first doe, all bucks last year! She has boer in her- is this common with boer's? Not sure what steps to take.

40 acre goat farm for sale

Here's another link with different pics. The land looks pretty cleared from the pics. The house looks like it needs some work. That's what most of the dairy barns look like in Maine. http://worcester.craigslist.org/grd/2886131429.html
