You can't leave a dog with herding instinct (or a really good cow horse) out alone with livestock. They'll pester them to death. Sometimes literally. Hindsight is 20/20 of course. Glad the little guy is coming around.

You might try going to the state fair during the days the dairy cattle are competing. For Youth (4H) that's Oct 27-30 and for Open that's Nov 3-6. Even if no one there has anything for (future) sale, the 4H families should be able to tell you where they got theirs. Maybe not minis but Jerseys...
