Man, that buyer kept flip flopping more than a fish out of water! Wasn't sure they'd show up.

2-3 wethers scheduled to go tomorrow. If not, chopping block for any left behind.

Still have the 3 Babydoll ewes & 2 other breed ewes to move out.

Need to come up with next year's name theme. Going to keep very few lambs. I've run out of ideas...
Have you done a Lord of the Rings/Hobbit theme before?

Some work around the pond today, to better stop the escapes!

Most recent escapees. Rando found me on FB to tell me they were on my driveway of the construction house. Still on property and fenced in, just not the pasture they were put into!

My grass is brown and crunchy. My sheep have been on dry lot for 6 weeks, eating a round bale a week plus double the feed. $$$$$$$$$$$$$
It stormed last night, can’t wait for daylight to look at the rain gauge! I hope the drought is over!

If I want to keep sheep, I have to add field fencing around the driveway. Ugh. Would save so much $ if I simply gave up on sheep.

Fence has to go in on that left center area. To direct sheep, but also keep sheep out when on winter grazing.
But also along at least one side of the driveway, if track is to go fully around....
Or just partial track and it closes off in winter to not continue past the red dots. If so, then just need fence added by driveway.
ugh.
If I want to let them have the big pasture in summer, track has to close the same as in winter.

If I had full size horses, not minis & ponies, I could have a 2ft or so coop jump separating areas. Then sheep would be blocked, but horses could continue. Might try it anyway and see how it works out. Tried with a board, but horses wouldn't really go over. Maybe a coop/aframe would work better...It would have to be at the red dots. If If I can make it work, then just the driveway needs the fence.

Ugh. Either way, gotta downsize. A lot more. I'm thinking back down to 30 sheep altogether. Rams, ewes and any kept lambs. Ewes gotta go to keep any.

You could try that. With the little sheep it ~may work. I don't know if you've seen Clarkson's Farm on Amazon (it's fantastic, funny, true, a good watch) but Jeremy Clarkson thought the ~3ft high stone wall would keep his sheep in. It didn't. It did provide some very funny scenes.

Well, 2ft would leave just their heads visible. And they tend to be lazy fatties, unlike some other breeds that are more goat-like.

Probably make one like an A or half A with the back is flat. But solid, no gaps, so they can't climb it.
But maybe I can try the pallet version. Have tons of them to cut & use.

I've done similar with pallets in an A shape for LGD to climb over, but not let sheep through. But those were 40in pallets, about 36in or so in height.

Regular coops.

Flat back.

Just add a top board.

The 2 giants could pop over, but rest shouldn't readily be able to. Probably would need lots of pressure to make them try it.

Youngest mini is still pretty short. It'd be a big jump for her. 38" mini, wouldn't be too bad. 12h could step over. 13h is getting old, but can step over.

Hmm...

The heck with the sheep - those look like fun jumps with horses. LOL my previous life peaking through going 'oh yeah' ;)
