Come on out and play Alaskans....Moo!
This is so cool, I'm on all 3 sites, aren't we smart! Love to hear how fellow Alaskans cope through our winters with their livestock. I'm new to all of it (including Alaska) so be kind.

This is REALLY old but I thought I'd bump it back up for any other fellow Alaskans. And for those of you who have goats and are not yet a member... There is a group on Facebook for Alaska Goat Owners. I'm the mod, although I temporarily closed my FB account, but keeping an eye on it through my husband's account so any requests to join will still be accepted.

I know of at least one other AK'er that comes on regularly, anyone else?

Wow, not many Alaskans.... I just found the forum while searching "sheep first aid". A boarding buck and my ram lamb got not it the other night and Tucker, the ram, wound up with a loosened horn. Gah! The buck escaped his pen. I found good advice here.

I have three Icelandic sheep, two ewes, hopefully bred. I also have a few chickens, down to one dog, a couple of cats and a turtle. Our five kids are grown and I'm indulging in my dream of building a small farm.

P.S. Tucker is fine.

Is anyone from Alaska still on this forum? If so, we are thinking of getting a goat but want to make sure that the structure we build will be suitable for our cold, wind and snow. Any suggestions?
Thanks
