"Your GPS is WRONG
There is one of those signs in the city north of us as well. I'm guessing a lot of semis were heading up the 2 lane residential street. It isn't a dead end but they sure aren't going to be happy with all the "must turn" intersections before they finally hit the big road they think they are going to.

We also used to have people driving up our dead end single lane private road, looking for property for sale - none available or listed - looking for a way to the hills behind - no way to get there since road is posted "DEAD END"! - and nosy people in general just looking around (and some that were probably casing the houses to steal stuff). Luckily all our neighbors and ourselves are also nosy and come out to quiz strange cars as to where they are going, who they are, what their business is, and who they are looking for. Having those nosy neighbors helps keep us safe on our private road.

:frow @Alaskan !

I saw you posted on the Spitzhauben thread over on BYC, so I checked here to see if you were back. We’ve missed you!

What’s your weather been like up there?
Weather has been horrid.

The fireweed up at my house has NOT bloomed at all, and now everything is dying back. (Yes, I did have blooming fireweed inside my greenhouse).

So... crazy weather. I don't remember a year where it was so cloudy and rainy that the fireweed didn't manage to bloom.

And my raspberry patch was looking really good, finally making a great comeback after all of those years of the goats pruning them back... and just last week a moose decided, out of the blue, to eat the top half off, of ALL the canes.

Just wow.

So.... I somehow got down to only one roster in my bantam pen... and though 3 of the bantams went broody they hatched zero ... so we tossed some eggs in the incubator, late in the summer though it was... that was tricky though because I let someone borrow my incubator this spring and they returned it without a cord... we found a cord that worked...

And... I think we had 8 eggs? Anyway, only 2 made it to pip, and one bleditsekf to death, pip hole just a little too low.

So, SINGLE CHICK!!! I hate Singles.

So we tossed in another set of eggs, and then last night the incubator started snokng.....

Yeah... not sure if the incubator is now melted dead... or what...

P.p.p.pictures....

Various summer photos...

This one is from the area that was burned maybe 3 years back??? It was super cool seeing the blooming lupine in the midst of all the dead trees.
