Butcher should be the same... they are almost identical in weight.
Are female better for butcher?
It is just with the males I have ONE clear cull... not 2.
And if I cut down to 2 males, and do not cull any girls... no way will the girls have a fair chance to get fertile eggs.
I have one female with the "wrong" color bill (for the breed). But... I rather like being able to tell one apart! These geese are super similar!
So.... yeah... I need to look at feed costs... and think it over.

Ha! Nope! It went down this afternoon. Sunday drop off so they have it first thing.
And I didn't do it! I had my kid drive... he is happy to slide all over.
Anyway... roads had been plowed enough that it worked just fine.
But... I looked at the weather forecast... it said we were supposed to get "trace" accumulation!
We have over 6 inches!
Why does anyone still look up what the weather guessers say???

I love it when I see snow here!!! Of course it's up in the mountains and from my angle it's framed with palm trees.I am with you... best snow is snow in photos!!!

I WAS good! Doctor said it looks great, 1 more week of careful, and then all good to go!
However... I have been admonished.... something about hefting 50 pound feed bags will never be a good idea for me.

Heavy lifting causes too much pressure on the pelvic floor area.
And... in my particular case, it will not hold up to heavy lifting.
just the perfect combo of genetics and too much fun in my youth!

Then you have to pull in your borders and do the things that you can do.
I bought 4 bags of dog food yesterday, 50 pound bags. The cashier asked if I wanted carry out. I told her no, that when I get to where I canāt pick up a bag of feed, itās time to do something else. I know that day will come, but itās not here now and Iām gonna keep on keeping on until I canāt.

I am thinking I just need to figure out smarter ways to do things.
I have 3 more years before all kids are gone... so I have time to experiment and figure out the methods that work best for me.

I have a small hand truck. When I get a 50# bag of feed I have the clerk put it on the floor of my car, behind my seat. If no one is available to assist me once I get home I bring the hand truck to the car, wriggle the bag out the door and onto the hand truck. Then I can roll it up the shed steps (they're low) and wriggle it off the hand truck next to the galvanized can that holds my feed. Most of the time I can do one power lift up and into the can. I have done it in stages, put the bag on top of a stool or something. If I get to the point where I can't lift it I will just open the bag and scoop the feed into 5 gallon buckets with lids.
The feed can is the smaller one.
