Does anyone have any ideas what this big guy may be mixed with? He supposedly is part Lionhead. I thought maybe some Silver Fox because of the color on his toes and bc he is a good size for a dual purpose bunny. I've only raised Californian and New Zealand so I'm new and clueless to other breeds....

As far as I know, all black rabbits have a lighter color on the underside of their feet. I raise Silver Fox and I am not seeing anything that says Fox to me in the picture.

Ok. I've only ever had Californian and NZ so my rabbit world is opening up, wasn't sure. I know that I want to do Silver Fox though. Maybe I'll get some good breeders next year....

He's mixed with cuteness that's for sure!!! ;)
Sorry I don't know anything about bunnies, just wanted to put in my ridiculous comment. lol
I love silly comments! Especially talking about cuteness! Please never hold them back!

I know a few meat and show Silver Fox breeders in the southeastern US...besides me, of course. I warn you that it was the SF temperament, compared to my NZWs, that made me fall hopelessly in love with the breed, but there is a lot of poor quality SF in the SE, even for meat stock.

So we came across a heck of a deal on these 8 babies! Only $20. The woman had too much on her hands and let this litter go. The sire is SF the doe/mom a chinchilla/NZ cross. They have such a good temperament! I am in love. I'm keeping one boy from my Cali/NZ litter and all the females from this litter. That gives me 5 does and 3 bucks. I can let any of my bucks breed all but my original Lilo. Lilo can be bred with the guy in this post or Stitch, her current buck. My husbandry is super open now so I should get some really nice pelts and good meat in the future. Still would like a pure pair of SF though!:weee

These guys come right up to greet me when I go to spend time out there!:celebrate
