We have been making pies. First we made pie crust dough. Then we mixed up a pumpkin pie filling and put it in the oven. Next we made a lemon chess pie. They liked pretending that they lived 100 years ago yesterday, so I got out my antique hand rotary beaters. No electricity!
Cream the butter and sugar. That took awhile!
I explained that before those were invented, women had to use a spoon.
We cut lemons in half and hand juiced them.
A neighbor brought me 2 goose eggs this morning!
We used them plus 2 chicken eggs.
We hand beat them with a fork, then added to the mixture.
Pumpkin pie just came out of the oven! Lemon chess pie just went in!

I live in a rural area. I got a good chuckle out of that…… I was looking for more stuff to do, so I googled things to do in Crockett Texas. Third on the list was a feed store! 
And I’ve been there! Nice feed store but I don’t think it would hold granddaughters attention for very long.

County maintainer, dump truck and backhoe are on the road at end of my driveway. Girls and I walked down there to watch for a little while. They dug out the ditch leading away from where the water floods over the road right at my driveway. The county commissioner even showed up. Bennett came up on his 4 wheeler and told them what would help the road situation. They talked about building up that stretch of road with dirt, then rocking it AND a culvert underneath the road. Maybe that will happen, maybe not.
I zig-zag going in and out of here, avoiding the potholes bestowed upon us by the weeks of non stop rains. Maybe they will run the maintainer on the road out to the paved road.

Naw….. it ain’t an hour’s worth of big.
The county maintainer scraped the road, it’s rougher now, but trucks will pack it down.
