I have a lot of thistles in the front pasture. I’ll think about a couple of wethers for the freezer. Next year, when hopefully I’ll have this field fenced.
One of my bottle calves learned how to turn on the tall faucet beside his water bunk. When he was hot and the flies were thick, he’d just mosey to the faucet, turn it on (full blast of course) and stand with his face in the water. We wondered if he was part water buffalo. They can manipulate chain latches on gates, too!
Now that's a good idea!I have a lot of thistles in the front pasture. I’ll think about a couple of wethers for the freezer. Next year, when hopefully I’ll have this field fenced.
The bill wasn’t funny. But the water company worked with us. They did say they had never heard of a calf that turned on faucets. Hogs yes but not cattle.OMG...A calf turning on faucets!? kinda funny from here. Bet it wasn't there. Animals are amazing.
Sheep graze, goats browse. I can let my sheep in my backyard and not really worry about my landscaping, but when my 3 goats broke it, they wiped out the new fruit trees, ate all my roses and pretty much destroyed everything in sight in just an hourI never had any sheep but, seems goats will eat more challenging things than sheep. They can move their tongues and lips uniquely. Leaves on wild blackberry vines are plucked neatly! Heck, I can barely pick the berries without coming out bloody from thorns. It's pretty amazing really.
