Design the barn so you can add on later. 20 x 20 is barely the size of a double car garage. Sounds huge until you get the first round bale of hay inside!
I already have. Going out with lean-to’s on both sides for the sheep. Have plans for a bigger barn in the back field, close to the house. Then can use small barn for lambing.

Son bought trusses that span 40’ the last time he was in. He got us each a set. The trusses will eventually be put up on the 40’ shipping containers I don’t have yet, to make the big barn. Also eventually, lean-to’s will come off both outside sides to make a sheep barn and trailer/equipment parking.

So he needed to unload the trusses because he wants to go buy a 10’ bush hog. Didn’t want to drop them on the ground to lay in mud and rust. When we were walking through the front field, discussing the small barn, he spied the pile of pine logs that came from the one fence line I’m trying to get cleaned up. Perfect for laying the trusses on! So he loaded up a couple of them and took to his house.

That’s awesome. I’m so glad you have your son to help. I haven’t heard from my oldest son in a decade. We used to be really close but his wife doesn’t like me. (My grandkids keep telling me that when I am able to contact them) My other son is a hunting guide, but both live far away. I just think it’s so cool you guys are close and I love that you are working together towards your goal!
I love seeing pics of the progress. Ugh here comes Fen with TheMan’s skivvies…

He’s gone so much, he’s a crane operator and goes where the jobs are. I’m always grateful for his help, his advice is golden and he’s almost always right. I am blessed.

It’s too bad that your sons wife keeps y’all apart. There is a special place for selfish people. Your other son lives too far away, that sucks.

I hope you gave Fen a treat for the skivvies!!

My oldest is also a crane operator!
And yes, Fen always gets paid for the skivvies and all the other contraband he shows up with…this morning he even added a banana peel to the pile on my lap. He is shameless!

From one of the registered ewes it took so long to get papers on, presenting…….

A Ringo ram lamb!

Ewe ran to the lot when I was feeding, with all the others. She went down with lamb’s head hanging out. Looked like it was stuck. I got its front feet and gently pulled. She ran off and baby dropped out. She kept walking off, son finally held her and baby latched on.

WOW, so glad that you were there and got the lamb out alive and it's up and nursing. Yay for DS's help too. Has she ever lambed before? Maybe she didn't "get it"....? I am sure you will have her penned separate with the lamb to make sure they bond.... Hopefully she will get with the program for you.

I went back out before dark. I hemmed her up again and the little guy could suck. She got loose, kept walking away and finally stopped and let him suck. She is making the mommy ewe rumbling noises and licks him. Yes this is her first.
Son named him Ringo 2.0

First time ewes can be so stupid. She'll be better next time. LOL Congrats on the Ringo ram lamb!

But that darned old $$ dictates what we do and when! Do what you can, as you can -- one day it will finish
If there is one thing that rivals politicians and government in my hatred meter, it is having to have $$$ to do my projects!
