I think we've had grass fires next to my parents house either two or three times since they've lived there. Same 12 acre plot of land, same reason each time: mowing with a metal blade lawnmower at the hottest part of the day in summer when it hasn't rained in quite a while. The first two were the same idiot owner and the third I think was a guy he hired to clear the vegetation.
I don't remember the first two since they happened when I was younger, but the third one I helped try to contain, I think i was in high school or early college. Dad and I hooked up as many hoses as we could find to wet the edge and slow it down till the fire department could go through with a machine and do the fire break. Only the vegetation burned thankfully, our fire department was on it quickly. I remember I melted my shoes and ended up having to buy new sneakers.

Hey - I've thought of that if I need to do something out there. Mostly I avoid doing things then. Around here it's mowers and cars on the freeway that start alot of our fires.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe Harold will give her the same Hilary gave us - 2 1/2 inches in a day mostly perfect gentle rain.

Nope, it went into south Texas, no where near me. But my daughter in Corpus Christi got 5 inches!

It RAINED last night!!!!! For all of 4 minutes…. Silly me left the feed buckets out in the RAIN! I have PROOF that it rained!
