I slaughtered 6 Cornish Cross and hand picked them today. I’ve got 4 in the freezer. Gonna slaughter the other 6 tomorrow and try to get all of them in the freezer. Y’all wish me luck.

Going to all you can eat fried catfish with son and sister in law.

I got the last 6 chickens on ice. Sitting down with a glass of iced tea. Took 2 hours from slaughter to ice chest. It takes 30 minutes to an hour per chicken to fine pick pin feathers, some with needle nose pliers, cut and vacuum seal. Plus I wash them half to death…. Oh yeah, they are already dead.

Skinning rabbits is so much faster! And they taste like chicken. LOL
That’s for sure! But I can be done in 2 months and have a year’s supply of meat. Plus I have a customer that pays well for that chicken. I give her all the feet, she makes broth. And she gets the necks, livers, gizzards and hearts from the chickens she bought. I keep the livers and gizzards from the rest for me. Hearts and necks plus skin from skinless boneless cuts go to the dogs.

I can skin and gut a rabbit at super speed, or at least I used to. LOL
