I suppose SIL did not suggest that he could help on the roof? Just as well they did not stay since you need to get finished. I noticed that with us the longer the gap between starting and finishing a project the more likely it was not to finish it quickly.
SIL started back to work this week. Do he didn’t come with them.

Had a nice day. Went to church with DD and the girls. Then we went to Red Lobster for Snow Crab. It was delicious and we enjoyed each other and the food. Then home to my house, naps, pack the van and they just left.

I got the rest of the heat barrier done and the 2x4 lath too. Ran out of deck screws yesterday, but got the last 2 rows in place and screws in each end. Got another box of deck screws yesterday and finished up this morning. I’m tired. Metal goes o Saturday and it will be finished.

Insurance rant

I got depreciation on the roof. I thought I had full coverage, couldn’t find my policy. Went to insurance office. My agent was out having a baby. Ok, but can somebody else help me? I got stonewalled with I’ll get her a message. I called, several times, got stonewalled. I went back to the office. Stonewalled again.

Time for my policy to renew, gone up $200. $200 more and still nobody to explain to me why my roof was depreciated. It’s due this week. I went to another agency. Oh and I finally found my policy, I had full coverage on the roof. Cash value on house and contents and I KNOW I asked for f replacement value.

I’m angry that my agent was out having a baby and NOBODY covered for her. NOBODY put the customer first. NOBODY had her back or thought enough of her to cover for her. She needs to quit and go somewhere else where she is appreciated.

Too late for me, I voted with my feet and my feet took me to another agency. I’ll still have the same insurance company on my home, just underwritten by a different agency. And I got full replacement value on home, contents and an outbuilding. I thought I’d get a discount on having a metal roof—won’t have to replace it unless a tornado squats down on it. But no, that’s not how it works. No discount. Instead, it raised the value of my home. Insurance went up. So now it’s the same cost as what it was going to cost at the other agency for less coverage. Sigh…….

nothing will get me wound up faster than paying a company for a service and getting NO SERVICE! That really stinks. I'm sorry that they treated you that way. Good for you for for getting away from them... bad that your premium jumped.

My farm policy went up $350 last year!! 😡 A cover letter explained rates up due to losses -- we're talking  general losses across the country, I've never had a claim in 23 yrs!!!!! Same company. Yeah, I've shopped policies. The rates, applied to "replacement" costs are killer, based on current SQ ft costs for a house. I have to insure $$ for triple what I built back then. :idunno

The joke here is -- if you see smoke, don't call for a while -- we can build two new ones with the check! :hide. My insurance is over $200 a month, avg.

Everyone can expect more increases given the devastating losses from weather. It's why some areas can't even find insurers. Can't buy any coverage....the companies are unable to buy the backup coverages themselves.

We are responsible, not in a flood plain, not perched on a cliff, not beach front. Yet we pay for the losses due to irresponsible people who build in high risk areas. That’s our reward for being responsible.
