Raven kidded late last night. It was very traumatic for me and her. She had been laboring all day and my gut told me something wasn't right. Sure enough, she wasn't dilated fully. By the time I figured that out she was already actively pushing out a kid so I had to keep pushing the kid back in while trying to follow the instructions to manually dilate her. Thankfully the baby was small and she was able to push her out despite still not being fully dilated. She had a second kid a few minutes later, which I also had to help pull. They were both small and should have been easy to push out. She was exhausted, confused and in pain and it was freezing cold. She cleaned her kids half-heartedly but did not want to let them nurse. I decided they probably wouldn't make it, so I brought both in to bottle feed. Mom got pain meds, Tums, molasses water and grain. This morning I milked out over a cup of colostrum from her. She did not want to eat her grain or alfalfa this morning and is calling for her babies, but it's still really cold and I don't want to risk losing both her and the kids, so I won't put them back with her unless I think it will save her life.

I'm going to drench her with fluids today and hopefully she'll start eating. She got a B complex shot and more pain meds (aspirin) but I think I'm going to call the vet and see if I can get some banamine. If she's not in pain she'll be more likely to eat.

I'm exhausted, but the upside is we have two more DOELINGS! I'm so glad she didn't have a big single buck. 😂 Both babies are taking the bottle well thankfully. Less stress on me.

It's so funny, the black doe is the spitting image of her dad and the chocolate doe like exactly like her mom. Two little mini me's.

Everyone is doing really well so far. Nigerian mom is recovering surprisingly quickly from her ordeal (with only herbal supplements, which makes me happy). I thought about giving her babies back and seeing if that will work out, but I'm thinking about keeping one and if I do keep one I want it bottle fed so I don't have a long, hard weaning process. (I am a bit pen poor so I don't have a place to put very bonded doelings away from their mom for 5 or 6 months) However she is sorely tempting me to just give them up because she has gotten 6,000,000x louder than usual.:barnie

Willlow is becoming a milk machine. Coming into this as a solely Nigerian owner, her udder is unbelievable. 😂 She is feeding both of her big 6lb doelings plus giving me almost a quart extra per day. And that's just at 4 days fresh!

Bottle babies are doing great. They are already pretty much potty trained, eating great and doing lots of adorable hopping! I brought them to our little church Bible study last night and they were a huge hit.

We got sunshine finally!

The doe fairy is still here! Avon had triplet doelings yesterday! That brings our goat total to 7 does 0 bucks. 😂 Two of them are bottle babies and will stay here and they'll be our first homebred keepers. Meet Strawberry, Nutmeg and Honey!

It was quite the birth. Avon had been laboring and pushing for several hours so I decided to check and I'm glad I did. First baby was tail first, second baby was head back and third baby was head down front legs back. 🫠 It was my first breech birth but thankfully I had read about it and was able to reach in and pull the back legs out one by once.
Poor Mama is so swollen, but she's eating fine and taking amazing care of the doe I let her keep. She'll get plenty of extra love and pain meds over the next week or so.
I thought Annie was in labor too and penned her up, but turns out she was only faking it. She busted out of the pen and ran off to graze when I went to check on her after a couple hours. 😆
