Thanks, y'all. You're very sweet. We just did what any decent human would, but I appreciate your kind words. ❤️
Will the county come get them? I lived in Smith county and first thing they asked was did we feed the dog? If the answer was yes, then they considered it your dog. Answer no and it’s a stray and they would even set a trap to catch it. Go figure. Just thought I’d throw that out there.

Of course there is no way you can drive by and not feed and water those poor puppies. Bless y’all for being so kind. Hopefully you can find a shelter to take them or might even find a home for them among your friends.

In Smith county, a no kill shelter takes the dogs from the county, when their “time “ runs out. Here in Trinity county the Sheriff has a pet adoption day at TSC and finds homes for dogs and cats. You might want to look into how strays are handled in your county.
Thanks for all the ideas! We'll look into it. We also have lots of friends, so that might be an option. Will ask around. I'll take some pictures of them later so I can have them on hand in case anyone wants them. In a few days they'll probably be warmed up enough that we can take them somewhere else, right now they're pretty scared of us.

Here are the pics. They looked even worse yesterday when we found them. They were a lot more friendly this morning, let us pet them after they ate and wagged their little tails like crazy. They are sweet, sweet pups. I'm thinking lab mix. We thought the skinner one had a hurt foot yesterday, but on closer examination, I think it's actually a broken leg.

Update on puppies. They now have names.! Ranger and Blu. Blu's leg is going to be looked at on Thursday by a vet my dad found. They are charging $48 to look at both of them, which is really good. All the other vets I called wanted $60 or more EACH just for the exam.
They are turning from sad, scared little skeletons to happy, bouncy, dramatic pups. They got their first baths yesterday, which they hated, and their first nail trim today, which they didn't mind because they got belly rubs to go with it. They still eat like they are starving, but they are looking better already. We have them put up in a chicken tractor with a dog igloo and a blanket to sleep in, but I let them out several times a day when I can watch them.
They like to bark at our big dogs, and chase our poor cats. I think the cats are very mad we decided to get puppies. 😂
As far as if they will stay, it's not definite yet. I called around to several shelters and was told they were all at capacity. I have a couple ads on Facebook for them. Secretly, I hope no one wants them, because I do. 😁

And here are pictures from today!
