Not completely but well on the way to being healed. The ones on his hips just need to grow the hair back. The one on his tail is still a big scab, bless you for asking!

He spent part of the afternoon grabbing my things off of the table next to me and trading for cookies (neck pillow, phone, kindle, meds,tv thing…ALL of them! )
At least he doesn’t expect me to just hand him cookies and is willing to work for them

I purchased a pulling harness for Boone a couple months ago as I have a wagon I would like him to pull for me to get some things done around here. I hooked him up to a small tire today and let him pull it while I carried the turkey carcass to the big dumpster.
Once we got back, I realized how much engagement he requires from me every day.
He enjoys enrichment puzzles and games (like rolling kibble up in a towel, rolling it up and tying in a knot) and he especially enjoys bringing me things. (Ie: meds, phone, tv changer, etc). He has a fairly short attention span which works well with my training methods as I tend to only train 1-2 minutes at a time with a clicker and treats. Anything I teach him, anything at all, winds up being useful, and playing the game is fun for him and builds his confidence plus leaves him wanting to learn more.
Today, we spent most of our sessions with Boone seated in front of me while I asked him to look right or look left, clicking and rewarding each time he did it. This helps when he’s helping me walk, to guide him, its extremely helpful when I send him to find something for me as I can guide him to it verbally, and it’s a useful redirection when he is distracted.
Yesterday was meds day, I simply put my meds bag in various places in the house and sent him to find and bring them to me. Tomorrow we will likely just work on “head down” where he just needs to place his chin where I point. It helps when driving and his big fat head is blocking the mirror, or when we are eating out and he wants to be nosey, etc.
There is nothing I can teach him that won’t be useful and simply doing it together works him out mentally, leaving him more relaxed, builds his trust and confidence and strengthens our bond.
Boone has been a great journey for me, so far.
