Hi all!
Yesterday I gave my bunnies a couple of ice packs to keep cool, and I did not think they would chew on them, but they did. Is there anything I can do? These little girls are for sale, so I especially don't want them to die. Please help!

Thanks guys!

I ~think the ice packs at least the ones I know of are non-toxic/perhaps food grade??? of course that doesn't mean it's good to eat, but at least not poisonous. That's an I ~think you're ok.

A quick Google search came up with that they are supposed to be non toxic in small quantities, but that it may cause stomach upset and nausea. So I would say to watch them and make sure they keep eating their regular food normally and monitor their droppings. And see if you can find out what the ingredients in your particular ones are.

If their digestion remains normal, then they are probably fine. If their digestion goes off, then you would need to treat that. (I only had rabbits for a few months, so I don’t remember what the remedy for loose stools was. I just remember it was important to keep them on a good diet to prevent any problems.)

Instead of ice packs or frozen water bottles, use plastic tubs to freeze ice blocks. Like a Cool Whip container. Pop the ice block out and the bunnies can lie next to it or chew on it to their heart’s content.

Oh! I like that Idea! Thanks! Maybe I will try that! I will need a lot of cool whip though! I have over 15 bunnies as of right now, but I normally have around 20!
