Agree for Birdie. BUT Blossom might need it!

Will you start to milk more now to replace Blossom and keep Eva comfy, in milk, or dry her off?

It's a decision here, with goats, as to milk/dry off. Quantity is a decision maker. Use for it, another. Finally, I get down to one and winter weather -- milk or dry off 🫣 I have normally made and frozen enough farmer cheese for the winter by then. My chickens adore that curd in winter. With piggies on hand to feed it's ok. No feeder pigs right now but -- a local has some at good price & I'm thinking on it 😖:hide

@Mini Horses in the past I've despised milking in the heat - that's why I've always tried to plan for winter calves.
BUT - now that I'm almost finished fixing up a new - easier to clean - milking area, we'll have to see. My plan is to load the stall with hay & water in the evening - then lock Blossom in before I leave for work. When I get home I'll milk Eva and turn Blossom out. Since I don't have anything set up to permanently separate them, 12hrs & an empty udder when they first get together will be the best I can do for now.
Farmer cheese & cream frozen in ice trays are my plan for milk... assuming Eva doesn't hold up so bad that I'm spending 20mins setting up to get a quart of nearly creamless milk

If anyone hasn't told you lately, you have a GIFT for bein an amazing encourager! 🥰
Kind and encouraging words don’t cost anything and sometimes have an enormous impact.

In our stressed and hurried lives, it’s easy to be brusque with others. Instead, take the moment to be gracious to the person who just checked your groceries that you rushed in to buy and you’re thinking of all that you have to do when you get home. Good manners and a smile are free. Say something kind, make the other person feel important. Thank them for coming to work today because you appreciate them being there to help you. Brighten someone else’s day.

Today, I definitely hated it! Barn fan died...I was sweaty wet😥. But it's done. Normally winter is my time to stop. Partly cold, partly because they're bred to kid then. I have kept a couple milking like 14-15 mos & skipped a yr of breeding for them.

Gotta go buy a box fan.

I agree to skip the Prozac. Once on it you can't stop since withdrawal will make anxiety worse. She is doing well, chews and Nylabone are helping boredom, and she is learning that you will come home every day to be her human so just keep doing what you are doing now.

Bad day. Very bad day.

I got a call during my lunch break from my Dad - he was coming home frim one of his volunteer things & there is a boxer running around in the road near our mailboxes and did I think it was mine. 😱
Called my boss
Called & texted my coworker (no response)
Headed home
Multiple calls back & forth between Dad & me - he can't catch her - me begging him to get out of the nearly 100° heat - he lost sight of her - he found her.... sitting in his car!!!!

So I get home & he had put her back in the house and then gone home to put his groceries away.. & when he came back up she was in the driveway again
That's where I found them.... him driving up the drive, her walking in front.
I got them both inside in the AC & in front of a fan. He was beet red (red head like me.. we change colors when we're hot) & Birdie's tongue was dragging the ground.. then started to access the damage.
My First concern was that she had gotten out by opening the sliding glass door.... so where are my cats!!?? Found 1 hiding under the guest bed. The twins under my bed.... no sign of my big fluffy Chaos 😥
Second, checked to see how she got out of the bedroom/ bathroom. Door knob crushed, door trim in 2 pieces, big strip of wall covering ripped off....
In the dining room, another AC side panel pushed through.
Trash dumped in the kitchen.... not really plundered... although it was nearly empty to begin with..
And of course, the handle on the sliding glass door chewed & the trim scratched.
I stood on the porch & cried & called.. Chaos came out of the woods. He's a little winky in one eye but ok.
Everyone is ok. No damage to anyone's flesh. 🙄 Had a brief "frustration/relief/scared/mad cry". Tried again to get ahold of my coworker because it's my day to close... told Dad I would just take her with me & go back.
He said he could sit in my recliner just as easy as he could sit in his & that he would watch her till I got home again. He also said that it might be good for me to find out if it was just ME leaving that freaked get out or if it was being alone.
... Dad 💗
So I left... & called from the mailbox. Was she ok? She's eating a chew bone, go to work.

Got to work.... HOW does everything go sideways if I'm "missing" for an hour?!?!?! Geeze. Fixed some scale stuff, fixed some accounting stuff, fixed some machanic shop stuff... closed the scale & headed home.
Called - woke them both up!
Got home & neither of them even heard me come in. Scared them both half to death when I put my bags on the counter. 😅

Sooo Birdie will be going to work with me the next 2 days.
I'll be replacing the plastic side panels on both of the other AC units with wood & installing a board in the track of the sliding door..... but I have NO IDEA what I'm going to do Monday
This had been so much harder than I ever expected....

OMG - so scary, sad it happened, at least your Dad saw it all and helped out.
No idea what to do for that.
Hugs.

I think that a harness and tie out might still be an option since being inside is a problem for her. Or else, a dog kennel type pen that she will not be able to dig under to get out.....I fixed one to keep the raccoons and foxes and possums from digging in to the chickens with cattle panels around the outside ... if she digs she will only run into wire she cannot get past....
