More work drama.... because I get upset over sudden change (unless it's my idea)... and there has been too much sudden change lately.

I never check the posted weekly schedule, no point. But for some reason when I got to the breakroom tonight I went right over there & checked it out.
It's ALL jacked up. After this weekend, almost everyone is on days! 😳 Just the 2 night supervisors & 1 man from each night crew still on nights... impossible to run, no Beamer operators. 🤷‍♀️
Turns out that we're going on a temp shutdown. Running out of the regular fiber that we use to make the fabric.
The new - and greatly expanded - day shift will be running a series of trial orders. That means there will be A LOT of reconfiguring the machine and taking half-used rolls off & putting others on the creel. Also, some cross-training in other areas of the plant. I imagine that it'll be us Beamer operators sent around to cross-train since there is no point in having 5 of us at the Beamer at one time. That, or - if there's an opening - some of us will be in the creel. I DO NOT want to learn the upstairs lab stuff. It's super chaotic up there... and dangerous. Things have been known to BLOW UP, or catch FIRE.

I'm upset because I rarely make any plans... but I had a lunch planned with a couple of 'homesteader' neighbors this Tues. But that's the day my new day schedule starts. I'm going out with my sister next weekend & my best friend the Thurs after that. IF I'm still on the same schedule, just days instead of nights, I can keep the plans with Sis & Tracy. IF they're changing us to ALL working M-F to compact the workforce & not have to come up with 24/7 busy work for weeks on end, then I have to cancel with Tracy too. But I won't know that until they post next week's schedule. They only post 1 week at a time.

I'm hoping that once this is over & they are ready to split all the shifts back out.... maybe they'll let me stay on days. 🤞

It's just all up in the air... and I hate that.
It's not helping that I haven't slept well & the machine has been a BUGGER tonight... Better tomorrow after some sleep..... and chocolate.

Well, it may get you back on days. Until they assign placement you won't know what area you'll work. I'm betting more training area -- you learn well and pretty quick. Look at it this way, maybe a future supervisory upgrade will happen with all the training behind you.

I commend them for trying to keep crews working while they resource supplies. Better than a layoff. Let's hope it will work out well! The bathroom issues are 😳😡

Chaos rules! But like @Mini Horses said, at least no layoffs.
I worked at a place once and business got slow. The president called meetings on both shifts and told us they would have to lay some people off or everybody could cut back to 32 hours. They gave us a couple of days to think about it and then we voted. We chose 32 hours so nobody got laid off.

This is just a bump in the road. Maybe the road will fork and take you somewhere different. Enjoy the ride.
