Can't see tattoos in black ears

I am going to do linear appraisal this year. One of my guys has black ears, and I can't see the tattoo.
Any ideas??

No. I think the tattoos have to match the paperwork from ADGA.

With Lamanchas you can do tails... would that be ok?

I don't see why not. I may need to call the registry for suggestions.

Have you tried a flashlight? Sometimes if you shine a flashlight on the backside of the ear you can see the tattoo.
