No we are not, we are mean and nasty and HORRIBLY unwelcoming! ;)

BTW, I don't think Blooie has the property space to have a herd of anything but chickens.

HA! Nuthin' scares me! I'm brave! I'm tough! I have courage! I am invincible - fearless! I'm unscareable. (well, except for mites. I'm asceered of mites)

We had goats and a couple of sheep at our other place, but that was over 20 years ago. But now we live on a corner lot in town, so I'll be sticking with chickens. Livestock IS legal in town - folks here have horses, mules, donkeys, sheep, goats, cows - but I think our lot is just to small to keep them comfortably for them, and for me. The people right behind me have horses and the folks across the street have cows, so I live my "farm" dream vicariously through them. No limit on the number of chickens I can have, and no restrictions on roosters either. In fact, the only mitigating factor on raising roosters is that the chicken coop and run are less than 20 feet from my bedroom window. I have two Silkie roos out there, and they don't bother me too much but some of the others that we've had were ridiculous! One Memorial Day we were having a family barbeque here. At that time we had a particularly obnoxious Speckled Sussex rooster named "Speckles". That roo was NUTS and would crow incessantly. Ken had chicken on the grill, and just as he lifted the lid on the grill to turn them, Speckles let loose! Our then 8 year old granddaughter looked at the run and yelled, "Speckles, you're next!" And he was. Katie is adorable, and she's Gramma's heart. In fact, when I tell her, "Bug, you are Gramma's heart" she grins and answers, "And you're my gizzard!" Love that girl!

Your granddaughter is awesome! Reminds me of my daughter... When our rooster got feisty with my husband, our daughter told him he was going to be processed and he was going to be delicious!

Welcome from NY! I was on BYC first, too. Its a really great site, but i think i like here better. I dont have chickens or ducks, so there's a lot more to do here. Are you interested in getting any more animals?

Didn't one of your Granddaughters have cancer? How is she?
Or am I just getting you mixed up with someone else from BYC?

Actually you do remember most of it right...on Donrae's BYC thread they've been an amazing support system for my little niece Ashley, who was diagnosed with leukemia two years ago this month at 6 years old. "Team Rachel" has more or less adopted her, bless their hearts, and if things keep going for Ash the way they have, she'll get to ring that "last chemo" bell in April. My little granddaughters have their own issues - Katie has mild autism, and her little sister Kendra was born with Spina Bifida and has more severe autism.

No plans for more animals. I'm Kendra's full time care-giver (besides being her adoring Gramma!) so chickens are about all I can handle. This lot is way too small to allow for anything else anyway.

Okay, I managed to get an avatar but I can't post photos. Is that because I don't have enough posts, like on BYC? All I get is a brown box that asks for the URL, and since they are photos that live in my photo folder on my computer there is no URL - at least that I can figure out. I'm gonna go do a little investigating in the FAQ again.
