This job is "supposed to be up to a month. I smell a herd culling this weekend though. I'm far enough west I couldn't go home if I did have Sunday off. The one by the house (a little farther than the other one) is only 40 miles with their travel jobs being under 6 hrs and mostly under 3. They just said they may be hiring in Aug. Really hoping for that call. This out fit will be sending me to NE next if I leave this weekend or after a month. Same distance from home, further north & further east.

No Jan I'm afraid even if I'm here a month I'll just get caught back up, no extra for the truck. To long at home AGAIN. I soooo enjoyed it though. Baby girl is almost 1 now. Although I can buy a tuner for $350-450 and do it myself. Much cheaper than putting a diesel in the shop. Good thing is the 11 & 1/2 hour days. They said they're starting earlier because of the heat and not working 12's because of people quitting early. It's really so they don't have to give us another break and if you eat lunch in the truck you also lose 5 min to go to the 2nd little meeting. It's a '45' min lunch instead of 30 so they don't have to give a second break. With a 12 hr day they'd have to. At least they're paying us through lunch.

Well some good news today. They had a little special meeting at 11 that said we are NOT getting laid off/sent to the next one after this little b/ ait they are pressing for is done. So that's kinda good. I've been lied to before. They tell you what you want to hear then you're out. Kinda of like it's a 6 week shutdown until you get there and it's 6 DAYS instead.
We have a little meeting after lunch, the earlier meeting could've waited until then. The real reason for the afternoon/after lunch meeting is really just to make sure nobody is late coming back.

Good news is I read a few P&ID's (prints) in front of a foreman and he said oh, ... I think this is a guy I can leave alone and he can do his job. I need 10 more like him. So if I didn't make the super mad or I can't stand him I can be here at least a month.

I need to check on my bee's. It'll be a while.

:fl for the bees... hoping that the job goes as they say and you can get some work in and that the foreman is right and leaves you to do the job like it should be done... and you stay under the radar and can just keep on keeping on for a bit...

Any new bites on work? Wasn't one of the jobs supposed to open up in the fall that was closer to home???
Hope you get some of the rain this time around.
Several bites. None are really keepers.lol That KS job ended up being through a temp agency for the outfit that I thought was going to be just north of me. Trying to do some day work and other stuff at home for as long as possible. Hoping not to push the bank to low.

Got a few more rounds of rains :celebrate with another possible round at noon. Wow 45 min/30 mls up the road has gotten 5" since Tue. We may hit 1" with the combined rains. More tomorrow night possible as well.

Glad you're getting some rain!! 👍👍

Well, time at home IS necessary. I find it saves enough to help offset some of the "lost" wages. Almost no gas used, don't drive much then. Use the supplies I've grown, canned, frozen, already bought. Yeah, makes you think you can do it all the time 🤣 then a bill comes and you wake up. 😵‍💫😡

Last night I dreamed I'd sold every thing but 3 chickens and 6 goats 😱😂 wasn't even a bad dream.

Me either... And I eat very few eggs, give most away. They're good nutritionally, should eat more of them. But the chickens free range, so lotta fly & bug clean up. And let's not forget garden fertilizer, plus kitchen clean outs. 😁 Occasional chicken dinner and I love my broody hens -- more chickens.

I've been bee "having" instead of Beekeeping this year. While I was gone, I think I missed expanding the hives so they wouldn't swarm. The one hive that did make it to 3 boxes high had nothing in the top box the other day so I just removed it for the winter. 3 hives were already starved out. Several months ago, after our first cool spell I put out a sugar water feeder once it got back into the 70's. They still haven't touched the sugar water and I could see them still hauling pollen in back then and for some time after that. I added a little dry sugar on the inner over and will put in a entrance feeder in the ones left.

The only feeding they've really done this year (since early spring) was on the last split I made. I put an entrance feeder with them to get them started and the other hives went to robbing it. So I pulled it and put a different entrance reducer on them. They had already stopped eating from the open feeder long before that.

Irritates me that they could have been easily saved yet, I ASSUME'd they had plenty of honey if they were flying and not touching the open feeder.
