I feel horrible and relieved all at the same time. I was guilt tripped into being a troop leader for girl scouts. The mom who said she would be assistant troop leader is no help. We only have 3 girls attending and need 5... My daughter is the only one that sold Fall product. I am going to finalize my paperwork and give it to the non-assistant troop leader. Cassandra is having more fun at new Cub Scouts pack anyway....

Wide awake at 4am. 🥴🙄 Seems such a waste of time. Haven't had any job work all week. Every day seems like a "day off" so not good for body sync. Its screwing up my internal and mental clock. :barniebetter have a mirror talk. Get myself in line.

Coffee and breakfast...that should help. 👍 Daylight is about an hour away. 😁 Warm today, maybe I'll get some hooves trimmed....and more CDT shots given for Feb due date girls. Hey, there's a plan!! ;)

Yesterday I was wide awake at 1:30. So I ran all day on 3 hours of sleep. Slept like a rock last night!

Bennet is taking the 3 hay rings that are a barrier at the end of the old driveway, to keep the cows off my back field. His brother needs them. So we are going to close that span with Red River panels for now. He has 40 acres on the north side of me, they live on 16 acres on the south side of me.

When I start on that fence, it’s gonna be a doozy. I’m going to concentrate on the front field this year.

Need more coffee.

My son was in cub scouts. We had our designated leader, but the parents teamed up and signed up for a month of holding the meetings, 2 parents to a team. Had to sign up for 2 months, and the boys got more experiences that way. On my turn, I got deer hides from a processing place. We staked them out in my backyard, scraped and salted them. After they dried, I put them in the garage. Next week, we shook off the salt, rubbed with baby oil and “worked” them over the swing set bars. That, and the boys running wild all over the yard, playing. It wasn’t a classic”tan” but it was good enough.

My 2 younger granddaughters, age 6 and 7, are in Cub scouts and having a great time. I’m glad they combined boys and girls.

I have successfully wasted an entire day. Did nothing meaningful outside beyond feeding. :idunno no guilt. I rested. 😁

Did order a few things online, milk filters, antibiotics, needle & syringes, milk cultures....yeah, needed to do, restful work that I can stop thinking about now. Downloaded some tax docs, and straightened my desk. 👍

Maybe I'll sleep better now. 🤔. Everyone is fed, coops closed, waters filled. Another 10 egg day! 😁. You go girls!
Ha - you got those little naggy things done. Totally jealous of 10 eggs! None since just before Christmas here.

We're getting about 1/2 dozen eggs a week here. The 5 pullets should start laying as soon as the days get longer and stay warmer. Hoping to get through this winter without the coyote, bobcat and racoon problem that always starts this time of year. I got one coyote 20 yds from the coop a few months ago.

I am getting about a dozen a week and I don't understand why. Not that I'm complaining but I've never had the girls lay this time of year past their first pullet winter.

if CA had set up water storage and flood control/routing things wouldn’t be as bad.
Oh they have flood control routing - concrete lined "rivers" that lead right to the Pacific Ocean. That is all I knew of rivers growing up just south of L.A..

On the flip side, Houston allowed all the areas that could route water to be developed. And now they flood.
More excellent planning.

I'm sure that we've learned and will be checking the oil level constantly.
In a pinch take your yellow cans to the gas station and buy some diesel (off road if they have it). It is better quality that #2 fuel oil (though more expensive) but the furnace will burn it just fine. It saves you the "emergency delivery" charge and huddling in many layers of clothing.

I run diesel in my outdoor kerosene/oil/diesel 75,000 btu heater, I didn't know you could run it in an indoor oil heater.
