Afternoon coffee here. Finishing up the accounting End of the Month stuff at work ( long hours...) and trying to get all of the "Got To Do's " done before heading out of town for a whole week. EEK!!! I have not left the farm for that many days in a row in YEARS.... My anxiety is ramped up 😨
I'm sure it's all going to be fine.. .but that little trouble maker inside my head keeps saying things like.. What if the cow's get out? What if a storm comes and takes down the fence?? OR takes out the POWER??? Can Dad hook up the generator?? Without burning down my house??? What if something gets in the chicken yard and kills one?? OR MORE?? My Dad will FREAK OUT!!!
T
oday will be the first day I get to go home 'on time' in almost a week. Hopefully will get a bunch of the stuff checked off That List.
Weather is BEAUTIFUL here today, breezy & mid 80's. Rain coming this weekend.

I'm over it for today! Rode tractor several hours. It was hot out there...86! Did all kinds of everyday things. Boy, they are sucking down the water! 😁 Couple loads of laundry on lines. Fed, watered, collected eggs, milked, fed kids 2x, and I was hot, dirty, sweaty and tired. Called it done at 4:30.

That long, hot shower felt awesome! Clean clothes, of the summer variety. 👍 Been cooking a roast. Just plopped a load of potatoes in the pan. Green beans to add, makes another empty jar. I'm just chilling now. Bedtime will come early. :old

Tomorrow cooler in morn & overcast..rains at night. So hope to do more in morning temps. It's looking good and I feel great to finally get it done. 🤩. I have a roof panel to replace on barn tomorrow, too. Blew off in the high winds last week. Yep, another busy your rear day coming up.

That’s what I call a good day! That’s how us crazy ol’ ladies get our exercise! Exercise class? BORING. Farm work? HECK YEAH!

Now, another 6 or so to cut -- then I'll need to rake it off👎.
Do you rake it up for forage? When we have to cut anything the sheep don't graze off (hasn't happened in a few years but might this year) we no longer rake it up to dispose. We leave it lay and the sheep and horses eat the cut forage.

I do if it's "forgeable". Most of this is crap I want gone. Any seed heads, etc. I'd like to burn it off but, can't. Although some piles may burn here and there! I have neglected some fields last 2 years and need to refurbish. I'm working a few acres at a time. 👍. Decent grasses, they'll pick thru, some of it will rot into ground. The additional numbers of animals will help to clean up and add fertilizer to those left unused areas.

Starting at a comfy 68 this morn. Light breeze. Good tractor weather. 😁. There's a damp feel to the air -- rains tonight are predicted. Overcast now. I left my windows open last night to cool house. Closing them soon to retain the free AC.

I slept until alarm at 7. Very nice 😂 and unusual. Coffee is ready and just in time, I'm ready for it! 🤔Need to empty the dishwasher this morning. Busy folding clothes last night and forgot. No problem.

Been rushing all week, plan to slow the pace just a bit today. I can look around a little to judge what needs to be next to do, to be most advantageous. Next week job work is only 3 short days. So more farm time 🤩 May get almost caught up here! 🤣

Storming here, pouring rain and 54F degrees. Already got 2” of rain, expecting 2” more. I looked outside and Buford went over the hog panel to get in the big pen with Sentry, ewes, lambs and Texas Five. Now it looks like he wants back in the small pen with Sheba. Too bad Buford. I’ll trudge out in the rain after while, but it ain’t happening now.
