I’m freaking out. In all the winter lambing’s I’ve had I’ve never had to deal with a week of wind and single digit lows. My barn is a metal building housing two horses. No stalls, assorted junk from previous owners taking up 1/5 of the 30x60 space. No door on east end. A thick, plastic coated tarp can be hung and attached to stuff to make a wall with a duck-through. I’m putting a 50 gallon water bunk in the barn and staging buckets for drinking. Also a full round bale inside. How am I doing?
No horses presently.

@Skiesblue your doing great! Life always gives us challenges and we do the best we can. Some bedding to lay in would be only other I'd add. But, with hay in there, the waste would be enough for that. Sheep will be ok, it's the WET babes we worry over. Hope they think to lamb INSIDE😳🙄🤞

@Mother Hen who hit who?? 😱. The tractor trailer didn't stop? What a MESS! Glad friend was ok.

It’s a toastie 24 degrees out @ 11 am with wind picking up. I was able to go out and help feed this morning for first time in a week or two. Got a ton of clothes to fold and put away, dishes to catch up on, and get Fen to pick his toys up so I can vacuum. I have so many projects needing completing but I can never get caught up on housework to free me to get to them. Winters are so complicated.
Have a spot for Boone to sleep with Mister and the leppie calves. TheMan is onboard with getting a couple of lambs if I can find some we have money for. His permission was the toughest part so hopefully I can find something when we go to town in Feb.
Fen has been happily putting things in the trash for me. Funny how he is ok with that but not putting his toys away.
Been chatting with a veterinarian who has his full brother. Nice gal.
Lately Fen has been bringing me little gifts. I woke up with a deer leg in my pillow this morning. He’s channeling the Godfather…

@Skiesblue in February 2021, we lived in Lindale north of Tyler. My barn was a lean to roof othe side of a portable building. 24 feee long, 20 feet deep, open on 3 sides. Snowmeggdon hit! 2 or 3 ice storms, a foot of snow and MINUS SIX DEGREES.

I had 15 baby lambs. I deep bedded with lots of hay, every day and they snuggled down. The sides were cow panels, I put cardboard on one side to block wind. It took me 3 hours twice a day to take care of animals, carrying buckets of boiling hot water to melt ice in water buckets.

Here is a link to my 2021 lambing thread. You can see my lack of a barn, the snow blown in it, and all the lambs thrived.

If you can go get some hog panels, they make good pens.

I’d say your barn and lamb accommodations are way better than what I had- and all mine survived. You can do this. I promise.
