Going to go dig the neighbor out this morning, why do I sign up for this schit. Seriously I could just stay home and lounge around, go inside when warm, noooo I'm going to go drive for hour straight on a open backhoe in sub zero temperatures to fight sliding up and down a ridge and a few hills in foot or two deep snow with few inches of ice on the bottom. Guess after so many years of serving the front lines ones ways of serving his country never stops, just redirected.
I've pulled the county grader out when they got stuck when plowing snow, few people who have slid off the road in the snow or stuck trying to get out. Let me tell you none was a picnic, cab of that rig isn't sealed it's like driving with windows down and no heater yet.

Good morning. Was 21 degrees, warmer than predicted. Three more days of chilly and occasionally wet weather then a warm up to the 60’s. Lambs playing King of the Round Bale. I’ll try to get a pic or video of that. Hubbs has gone to buy a used hay dolly. The old one (repurposed boat trailer) wasn’t worth fixing. Trying to get three rams sold. If they don’t turn into dollars and cents pretty soon its off to freezer camp.

On the way to pick up Boone. Was planning to leave Fen home but he begged to come.
Makes me nervous because he insists on riding navigator on these icy roads and I imagine him getting hurt. I haven’t fixed zippers on soft crate yet so I can’t stop him.
Boone will have to ride in back in wire crate
I can’t wait to see him!

2 bright sides, 1 you can't get stuck, or at least without the ability to use either bucket to get out, 2 you don't get dressed then sweat on the way there then freeze when you get out because of the warm ride there.

As peteyfoozer said thank you for your service.

Never been to this neighbors house and when I got there just doing a dry run something didn't add up. Definitely not even half as steep as trying to get up here, lower in elevation with less snow, hmm let me knock on the door. Had a chat and after a bit I asked for the keys to her truck, walked down there and tried, it wouldn't even climb 5% grade as in 10' and stopped. 4H nope, 4L nope, traction control and stabilock off, nope. Put it in 4L and slowly tried till it slipped then I floored it, rear end trying to get in front, but no snow or ice slinging up from front, parked the truck back walked back up there and said, ma'am your 4WD system is out and your rear brakes are gone. Even after I hit the brakes the rear tires kept spinning on the ice/snow.
That concludes my morning...
